Freedom to SubmitJudith’s review of Freedom to Submit by Melody Snow Monroe

Smart, curvy, surveillance expert Danisa Milan captures a killer’s crime on video. When he threatens her life, her high school dream  man, Sheriff  Brady Braxson, insists she move in with him and his  Dom rancher roommate,  Lucas Holt. Maybe it’s the danger  she’s in,  but her desire explodes being around  them, and she loses her heart to  both. But are they only acting like they want her  because she’s in  their care, or do they want her to be their submissive for life?

Brady and Lucas find Dani perfect in every way, but they don’t want  to  overwhelm the ménage virgin. What can they do to convince her  to be theirs  forever?

When the killer is found dead, everyone thinks the danger is over.    Then Danisa  finds evidence someone else is behind the murder, and  their lives tailspin. Can  the men reach her in time before she’s killed,  too?

Ms Monroe is one of the Siren Publishing exclusive authors who is gaining quite a following with her short stories, novellas and short novels.  This first book in a new series is about another menage relationship that grows out of necessity in a sense.   It is a case of a woman who is professional and successful but who manages to get herself in some very deep trouble when she inadvertently captures a murder on video and is in danger of losing her life.   When she finds herself taking shelter for safety’s sake with the sheriff and his roommate, Dani finds that it is impossible to fall in love with only one of them.  Yet even this strong and decisive woman has her insecure moments.  It is a phenomenon that I have noticed throughout my life when it comes to love relationships.  It doesn’t seem to matter how strong each of us is in other areas of our lives, we all truly fear rejection and thus we find pools of something akin to insecurity floating to the surface.  So it was in this story.  Perhaps that is why readers find these stories so interesting–we can feel many of these emotions within ourselves.

Ms Monroe has a knack of writing erotic romance and menage romance that speaks to her readers.  Many read to escape or to know that there even fictional characters who are feeling the same kinds of emotions that resonate in our own minds and hearts.  It would seem that this is the point of this story.  Even though each of these main characters have found satisfaction in their own professional lives and satisfying friendship galore, there is still missing that one person who seems to fill in the holes and fissures in our emotional beings.

This story is crafted well, well edited and filled with characters that smack of reality.  I really don’t know how many families are really built around a menage but I suspect there are more out there than we realize.  That being said, this love story points up the fact that no matter how fulfilled we are in other areas of our lives, finding that special “someone” makes a difference in just about every aspect of our lives.  I am looking forward to more of this series.  I have been reading other Monroe stories and find that her writing style is very readable and the quality of her writing is consistent throughout.    This story is romantic, lots of sizzle, but also spiced up with suspense and made edgy with the fears that drive Dani, Brady and Lucas together.  Even when it seems that their nightmare will never be over, they find that being together produces an emotional strength and a kind of security that is greater than ” . . . the sum of its parts.

I found this book to be a really good read and one that was entertaining and interesting throughout.  I give it a rating of 4 out of 5.
