Judith’s review of Love Slave for Two:  Reunions (Love Slave for Two #3) by Tymber Dalton

Nevvie and Thomas think Tyler is nuts for coming home with an RV and an even crazier plan to travel from Florida to Seattle. What could be better than a family vacation with two kids and Tyler’s father?  Perhaps finally putting the ghosts of Nevvie’s past to bed for good as she seeks answers to who she is.

She begins to seriously doubt the wisdom of their journey as mishaps seemingly pile up by the mile. And when a tropical storm and medical emergency add to the mix, she considers pulling the plug. By the time they reach Seattle, she endures almost more than her sanity can take, including a ride in a patrol car, a stowaway, and nonconsensual use of handcuffs.  And that’s before she’s given her mother a piece of her mind.

Through it all she’ll discover that sometimes the longest journeys, no matter how trying, are the ones that bring you closest to family—and home.

Having read the first two books in this series along with the prequel:  Love Slave for Two:  Beginnings which tells the story of Tyler Paulsen and Thomas Kinsey and their love affair that has grown into a committed partnership of nearly two decades.  The Triad of Tyler, Thomas, and Neveah (or Nevvie as she is called) has endured serious challenges from Thomas’ family–one of his sisters tried to take their first son away from them–and some occurrences that were life-threatening for each of them in three separate instances.  They have weathered loss and personal threats, put up with individuals who called their morality and fitness as parents into question, and challenges that drove them apart for short periods of time.  Yet their love for each other, their determination to be true to that love and commitment they had lived for years has enabled them to move forward.  Now it is time for Nevvie to find out some important information about the family that rejected her after adopting her.  She has suffered so much loss in her life and now she needs to put some of those ghosts to rest and reclaim her future unencumbered.

So Tyler, also known as Evil Genius to Nevvie and Thomas, decides that they are going to make Nevvie’s journey of discovery into a family vacation and begins by buying just about the largest RV out there.  The Triad, along with their two young sons and Tyler’s father begin their trek and it will turn out to be a doozy.

This is a book that explores the reality of living in close quarters, of enduring one another’s quirks, of putting up with strangers, difficult circumstances, Tyler’s not-really-very-good-RV-driving from time to time, and so forth.  It is a journey that takes Nevvie back to the people she loved and who abandoned her, of finding her step brothers again and renewing those friendships, of also finding new friends and discovering new depths of patience and love that can live through and possibly someday laugh about things and happenings that seem almost unendurable at the time.  It is also a story that causes an old terror to resurface and a new challenge that is totally unexpected in Nevvie, Thomas, and Tyler’s relationship.  Yet through it all is that sense that a woman who began with nothing, who cam into Tyler and Thomas’ life with nothing and no one who really cared about her has now found a wonderful marriage with her two men, sons who she adores, and a family that is expanding in unexpected ways.

Triad relationships are the subject of many romance novels these days, but I found this series to be wonderfully endearing, filled with people who were unique and whose personalities were never anything but real and gritty and down-to-earth.  As Ms Dalton has long resided at the top of my favorite author list, I am delighted when a new book of hers appears and this new addition to this series was more than welcome.  If you have not read any of Tymber Dalton’s books, you will find that there is always an honest component that explores the “underbelly” of human experience–the losses and griefs that plague all people.  So while there are really wonderful loving and erotic encounters between Nevvie, Tyler, and Thomas, there is sometimes that sense of hurt and deep angst that plagues one or the other and that these three have to find a way to work through.  This series is one of the most unusual threesome stories I have encountered and I continue to find their story fascinating.  If you like menage romance and are comfortable with the m/m/f kind of loving, then you really ought to look into this series.  This is a stand alone novel but it is made even more interesting and compelling if you have read the first two books and the prequel.  I look forward to the next chapter in the lives of these vastly interesting people.

I give it a rating of 4.25 out of 5
