Rowena’s review of Lucky in Love (Lucky Harbor #4) by Jill Shalvis.

Hero: Ty Garrison
Heroine: Mallory Quinn

Mallory Quinn has had enough of playing it safe. As a nurse and devoted daughter, she takes care of everyone but herself. And as the local good girl, she’s expected to date Mr. Right. But for once, she’d like to take a risk on Mr. Wrong. And who could be more wrong than Ty Garrison? The mysterious new guy in town has made it clear that he’s only passing through, which suits Mallory just fine. Besides, his lean, hard body and sexy smile will give her plenty to remember once he’s gone . . .

For the first time in his life, Ty can’t bear to leave. Helping this sexy seductress-in-training walk on the wild side is making him desire things he shouldn’t including leaving the military for good. As their just-for-fun fling becomes something more, Mallory and Ty wonder if they could really be this lucky in love. After all . . . anything can happen in a town called Lucky Harbor.

I’m always a little anxious whenever I get a new Jill Shalvis book to read because if you don’t know, I heart the hell out of her books. This is Book 4 in the Lucky Harbor series and it’s another winner for me. I enjoyed the hero, the heroine, the secondary characters and hell, even the small town of Lucky Harbor (I know, it totally makes me a liar but dammit, it’s Shalvis!). In this book, we get Mysterious Cute Guy’s story. We’ve seen him around Lucky Harbor and its in this book that he gets an identity.

I totally dug his character.

Mysterious Cute Guy is Ty Garrison (sexy name) and he’s a Navy SEAL medic who is healing from an accident years ago that killed his team and his friends. He relocated to Lucky Harbor to heal physically and lucky for him, he gets to heal emotionally too. He’s emotional baggage was something that he wasn’t looking to facing but with the help of Mallory Quinn, an RN at the hospital, he finds himself coming to terms with the death of his friends and the rest of his life.

Mallory Quinn is one of those do gooder type of heroines and I enjoyed getting to know her. She wasn’t too good and she wasn’t annoying so I liked her. What I liked most about her was the friendship that sprang to life between her, Amy and Grace. I loved the Chocoholics and the quotes before each chapter were cute and had me cracking up. Mallory has her own issues, she hasn’t dealt with her sisters death (a suicide that happened years ago) and she still blames herself because she knew that her sister was struggling with drugs and never stepped in to get her the help she needed.

From beginning to end, this book had me laughing. I was in fits of giggles when the Chocoholics attempt to rescue Ty (back when he was still Mysterious Cute Guy) and this book is filled with scenes that kept me smiling. Shalvis did a great job of sucking me right back into the Lucky Harbor mix and while I missed the characters from the previous three books, I did enjoy meeting some new folks and getting to know the other guys around town. I’m talking about the sexy forest ranger, Matt Bowers and the delicious Dr. Josh Scott.

This book has it all. A yummy hero that I couldn’t get enough of, a steamy romance that had me raising my eyebrows and secondary characters that I came to love so much. I couldn’t ask for a lovelier story to spend a couple of hours with. I’m so looking forward to the next two books, so freaking much.
