Rowena’s review of Animal Attraction by Jill Shalvis.

Hero: Dell Connelly
Heroine: Jade Bennett

Jade Bennett couldn’t be happier to escape her past for the quiet ranching town of Sunshine, Idaho. Plus, there’s nothing like working for veterinarian Dell Connelly. And though Dell has no intention of settling down, Jade’s strength and sass are enticements no red-blooded male can resist.

Jill Shalvis is one of those authors that I know is going to deliver just what I’m in the mood for and she sure as hell did that with this book. I adored Animal Magnetism but I adored this book more. I was curious about Dell in the first book but as curious as I was about Dell, I wanted to know more about Jade and her past. There was a story there and I was thirsty for it. I’m so glad to finally have that story.

Dell is a lady’s man. All the girls lust after him, even his office manager Jade Bennett but she doesn’t throw herself at him. She’s only got a few more weeks before she blows out of town to return home after being gone for eighteen months. She suffered a traumatic experience eighteen months ago and she needed some breathing space away from her old life to put herself back together again. She jumped in her car and landed in the town of Sunshine and got a job working for Dr. Dell Connelly as his office manager at his veterinary office.

Dell knew that Jade was hiding something from her past but she ran his office so well that he kept his reservations to himself and gave her the fresh start she was clearly looking for. Things are going swimmingly until Jade’s fears catch up with her and make themselves known to Dell. She’s afraid of something and Dell’s protective instincts kick in and an attraction builds hot and fast between them that had me turning the pages with a quickness.

The romance between Dell and Jade felt real and true. It didn’t feel forced, it wasn’t rushed and I really enjoyed it. Of all the books that I read in the month of July, this book was my favorite. I adored getting to know Dell, I wanted to be best friends with Jade and it was so good to see everyone else that we met in Animal Magnetism. Jill Shalvis writes my kind of contemporary romances. The kind of romances that has me giggling like a little school girl. Her heroes are always such normal, every day men that I can see myself meeting in my every day life. Her heroines are never perfect, they can do a lot of things that make me want to smack some sense into them but she never toes that TSTL line and I appreciate that.

It would have been nice to get to know more of Jade’s cousin Sam. I’m mighty curious to see more of him and wouldn’t mind at all if Jill were to write his story.

If you’re a fan of Jill Shalvis’ work then you’re going to love this book. Both Dell and Jade are interesting characters with a fun story that will keep you smiling all throughout the book. Jill Shalvis writes great romances and if you haven’t picked one of her books up, what are you waiting for? You’re missing a whole lot of good. =)

I’m anxious for Adam’s story, he was all kinds of sexy in this one and I need to find out who that angry woman on the phone is. Man, I can’t wait!
