What Are You Reading, 7/8/11? (65)

Casee: It’s that time again. Time for you guys to tell us what we may be missing. I was on a romantic suspense kick for awhile then went to paranormal but have now jumped back to romantic suspense. I read the new Dark Hunter book, Retribution by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I didn’t really have hopes one way or another because of how far out there the series has gotten. I was pleasantly surprised to really like the book. She’s taking it in a newer more interesting direction. Freshening it up, if you will.

Now I’m reading Beg for Mercy by Jami Alden which is a romantic suspense. I’m not very far into it, but damn can this author write. I can practically feel the character’s despair as my own. I can’t wait to get farther into it.

Holly: I’ve been pretty busy this week getting ready for a Sex Party bbq tomorrow, so I haven’t done much reading. I did manage to squeeze in When Tempting a Rogue by Kathryn Smith, which I enjoyed. I also started The Comforts of Home by Jodi Thomas, but I only got a few chapters in before setting it aside. It isn’t the book, I’m just not in the mood for a contemp.

Rowena: I seem to have fallen into a bit of a funk. I finished Insatiable by Meg Cabot last week and since then have picked up Overbite to read. I’m liking Overbite more than I liked Insatiable but I keep forgetting my book at home so when I get to work, I have nothing to read. Gah. So yeah, I’m reading Overbite by Meg Cabot right now.

I just finished My One and Only by Kristan Higgins. I was ambivalent… it was a good change of pace for her, but also bugged me in some ways. It seemed written to be a movie.

Now reading an oldie, Montana Born and Bred by Alexis Harrington. My first by her, seems pretty good. Along the lines of Cheryl St. John or Lorraine Heath. — willaful

  2. Just finished Coming Home by Anna James and now reading The Gift of Illusion: A Thriller by Richard Brown (both good).

Casee, I recently ordered Jami Alden’s Beg for Mercy. I haven’t started it yet, but I’m glad to hear that you’re enjoying it.

Rowena, I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Overbite after you finish it.

Forgot to add that I’m reading Jill Shalvis’s Simply Irresistible. I’m really enjoying it and can’t wait to read the second book in the series.
