Half-human and half-Wyr, Pia Giovanni spent her life keeping a low profile among the Wyrkind and avoiding the continuing conflict between them and their Dark Fae enemies. But after being blackmailed into stealing a coin from the hoard of a dragon, Pia finds herself targeted by one of the most powerful—and passionate—of the Elder Races.

As the most feared and respected of the Wyrkind, Dragos Cuelebre cannot believe someone had the audacity to steal from him, much less succeed. And when he catches the thief, Dragos spares her life, claiming her as his own to further explore the desire they've ignited in each other.

Pia knows she must repay Dragos for her trespass, but refuses to become his slave—although she cannot deny wanting him, body and soul.

After trusting her boyfriend with information about who and what she is, Pia is blackmailed into breaking into the hoard of a very powerful dragon. The minute that the powerful dragon, Dragos Cuelebre, discovers the theft he is beside himself with anger and want the thief caught immediately.

Dragos discovers who the thief is and goes after her – even though she’s trying to hide from him. When he catches her, however, he is so drawn to her – Pia being half human/half wyr – that he decides not to kill her but keep her instead…forever. Now Pia’s not all that thrilled at first at the thought of being “kept” but she soon learns to care for Dragos and his possessive ways. She’s not simpering miss though and gives back as good as she gets.

The thing I liked so much about this book – besides the great writing and the great story – was the fact that the author wasn’t afraid to show us that the relationship could be contentious but the people can still love each other. I like when I’m shown the fact that the h/h can jump down each others throats and still care for the other person. Don’t get me wrong – I love seeing an angsty romance become an HEA but never do I think that the arguing will stop with the statements of I Love You. In this book she just showed us those verbal sparks and I loved it.

The other part of the story that I really liked – that had to do with the villain – was that Ms. Harrison didn’t hold back with the heroine and what happens to her when captured by the enemy. In most books the hero always steps in to save the heroine from harm but what if that’s just not possible? That happened in this story and though it’s a story of dragon shifter it made the story that much more real in my eyes.

In the end I loved the book. I borrowed the ARC from Holly but will definitely be going out and buying my own copy so I can have it to re-read in the future. I can’t wait for more from Ms. Harrison and the Elder Races.
