Rowena’s review of Truly Madly Yours by Rachel Gibson.

Hero: Nick Allegrezza
Heroine: Delaney Shaw

WHERE THER’S A WILL. . .
When pretty hairdresser Delaney Shaw returned home to Truly, Idaho, for the reading of her stepfather’s will, she planned on paying her respects and getting out of town. But it seems the will has some unexpected stipulations-like the one that says if Delaney wants her inheritance she needs to stay put and have nothing to so with sexy Nick Allegrezza. . .for an entire year!
THERE’S NO WAY
Ten years ago, Nick had swept Delaney off her feet and onto his Harley, and that’s when she really let her down her Hair! Back then, he was a love-’em-and-leave-’em man, and Delaney learned the hard way that she was just a fling. But Nick is as irresistible as ever. And when the ladies at Tuesday night Bingo see Nick and Delaney making after-hours whoopee through the window of a local beauty parlor, Delaney knows it’s time to decide if Nick is truly, madly the man of her heart.

The first time I read this book, I read it because Holly made me. I had no interest in reading the book (mostly because I was a cover snob) but boy was I glad that I finally listened to her because this book was so freaking good that I re-read it not too long after I finished it. That had been years ago and while I haven’t read this book in years, I still remember it fondly.

With this month being Rachel Gibson’s spotlight, I picked this book up again and re-read it for the blog…and loved it all over again. It was such a wonderfully romantic and funny book that it took me no time at all to fall right back in love with Nick Allegrezza again. Good Lord is he a hot one!

Delaney Shaw left Truly, Idaho when she turned 18 and never turned back. She floated through life from city to city and job to job but when she has to go back to town for her step-father’s funeral, she’s not a happy camper. When she finds out that her step father left a will stating that in order for her to get her inheritance, she has to stay in Truly, Idaho for a year, she’s pissed. Forced to stay, she figures that if she can stay the hell away from Nick Allegrezza (the bane of her childhood existence) for that year then she’ll be okay.

Only that doesn’t happen because this is a romance and we need some drama so of course, Nick and Delaney run into each other and soon the romance between them starts heating up. I loved it! I loved the bad boy, the unrequited love thing, I just loved it all.

Nick is the bastard of Truly Idaho’s main man. Henry never acknowledged Nick as his son the whole time that he was alive and when the reading of the will happens and Henry leaves Nick property and stuff with stipulations, I wanted to punch Henry in the face. This was really the only part of the book that I hated. The whole will thing but aside from that, Rachel Gibson does a fantastic job of fleshing Nick and Delaney’s characters. I just adored reading about them again.

Watching Nick and Delaney fall in love again was cute. I thought they were too cute together and their romance had the right amount of heat to make this book a page turner. I thoroughly enjoyed it this time around and would definitely recommend this book to fans of Rachel Gibson and to fans of contemporary romance. This one is a delightful read and the hero is delicious!

I just finished reading Something Like Fate by Susane Colasanti and I really enjoyed it so I’m all excited about this book. Guest Review: Atlantis Betrayed by Alyssa Day

Tracy review of Atlantis Betrayed (Warriors of Poseidon #6) by Alyssa Day

What could Christophe, powerful Warrior of Poseidon, have in common with Fiona Campbell, the notorious jewel thief known as the Scarlet Ninja? Answer: The Siren, a legendary Crown Jewel that Fiona has targeted for her next heist. It’s said to be worth millions, but to Christophe it’s invaluable. For the Siren also happens to be one of the missing jewels from Poseidon’s trident. But breaking into the Tower of London is a two-person job, and Christophe and Fiona must team up to commit the crime of the century.

Christophe has been sent on a mission by the High Prince. Get The Siren and bring it back. The Siren, however is inlaid in William the Conqueror’s sword, Vanquish, which happens to reside with the crown jewels in the Tower of London. Piece of cake, right? Well, almost a piece of cake. You see when Christophe is scoping out the area around the tower he notices something – something not right. He turns to mist and follows and finds the famous cat burglar, The Scarlet Ninja. He’s quite amused to find that the burglar is a woman as well! Neither take Vanquish and leave the Tower asap with Christophe following the burglar to her home. Christophe discovers that the burglar is a Lady Fiona and she steals from the rich and gives to the poor – a modern day Robin Hood.

As much as he enjoys goading Fiona and her incredibly witty butler, Hopkins, Christophe decides that what needs to be done is to partner with Fiona and get The Siren together. This is made more difficult when Vanquish is stolen out from under them and they now need to know locate it before they can get the jewel from it. The shifters, vamps and Fae all got involved in the sword and it effected all of them in the end.

While Christophe and Fiona are searching they become intimate and realize that what they’ve been missing their entire lives is each other.

When I started this book I can honestly say that I didn’t expect to like it as much as I did. I wanted to read it but really couldn’t have cared less about Christophe. He seemed kind of belligerent and I wanted to know about some of the other warriors before I read about him. Well I’m glad I didn’t skip the book as Christophe’s story proved to be a very entertaining read.

The torture of Christophe’s past had a huge influence on who the man had become. He cared nothing about humanity, even though he’d sworn to protect it. He really did it grudgingly. But underneath the surliness was a kind, caring man who was both protective as well as quite emotional. I very much enjoyed seeing the layers peel off of him as the story went on.

Fiona had had her own issues growing up and was determined to do good in the world. She truly didn’t want to be involved with Christophe in any way but she was incredibly attracted to him and gave in quite easily. I expected more angst with these two but didn’t get it – which was actually quite nice to read. The two characters together were quite entertaining.

The overall story arc has taken an interesting turn and I can’t wait to read the next book.

Guest Review: Marriage in Moonlust by Kate Hill

Kris‘ review of Marriage in Moonlust by Kate Hill

Sacrificed to a family of vampires, Leona is rescued by handsome, powerful Narcisse Debray. In spite of her initial fear of blood drinkers, Leona is unable to control her attraction to the vampire lord. His lovemaking excites her beyond her wildest imaginings and he offers devotion such as she’s never known. Unfortunately, their happiness is tainted by the wickedness of a jealous enemy. Narcisse’s younger brother will stop at nothing to see the lovers destroyed.

The story begins with Leona being taken by the local lord, who also happens to be a vampire, as a sacrifice.  She is rescued by his brother who is the actual lord who had been away for a while.  He saves her life and asks her to stay because obviously her family and the village does not care about her since they gave her up on a silver platter to die.  She stays.  The younger brother is now ticked off because his “meal” is now sleeping in his older brother’s bed.  Lots of bad blood there (that was a really cheesy line after i thought about it, but it fits).  Of course, the two fall in love and there is a happy ending after some other stuff.  You have to read it to find out what.

This was a nice short story.  But definitely not my favorite by Ms Hill.  The storyline was decent, but I have issues with love at first sight or falling in love after knowing each other for a day.  So that was a detractor to me.  The love scenes were nice.  The characters were good, though the heroine was a little too sweet for me to fully love her.  The male characters were both very good.   Your diametrically opposed brothers, both handsome but one with a good heart and one without.  The hero was very sexy, I liked his character the best.  Strong, cute, dangerous and still missing his dead wife. The only thing I did not like about him was his name, shallow, I know, but every time  saw it I had to force my self not to say Narcissa.
I liked it, it was not a bad book but not awesome so I give this story a 3 out of 5.
