What Are You Reading? – 9/12 edition (24)

Casee: I just finished Demon From the Dark by Kresley Cole yesterday. I absolutely loved it. Loved it, loved it, loved it. I can’t wait to read Regin’s story in January.

Last week I started catching up on Google Reader and there was a lot of talk about The Darkest Hour by Maya Banks. I decided to pick that up next. I’m a huge fan of Maya’s in general and am a sucker for reunion stories.

Holly: I’m reading Indulgence in Death by J.D. Robb. My baby brother graduated from Army basic training this week in Georgia. MM and I flew out for the ceremony and spent a few days with my brother and his girlfriend. It was an awesome trip, but I didn’t have much reading time. As a matter of fact, Indulgence is the first book I’ve read so far this month. Isn’t that sad? We’re driving home from Northern California today and I can’t read in the car.9 hours of wasted reading time. 🙁

It’s good so far, though I am kind of disappointed we aren’t seeing more strife between Eve and Roarke. I like it best when they’re at odds with each other.

Had not heard of the new Robb! Library, here I come. Though I agree, it’s more fun when they’re in conflict. Still, at this point we want them to have grown, right? Kind of a conundrum… — willaful

  3. I read two great Carina Press books last week, and both were debut authors. The first was Dark and Disorderly by Bernita Harris – an urban fantasy about a woman who works as a ghost exorcist for a town. The second was The Sergeant’s Lady by Susanna Fraser – a unique Regency romance between a high-born lady and a lowly sergeant in the British Army. Most of the book is set in Portugal during the Peninsular War, so there are none of the usual Regency settings and the lead characters are both smart, likeable people. I highly recommend both of these books.

Holly the books with Eve and Roarke at odds are the best! They are my keepers!

I am reading Leslie Parrish’s Pitch Black and am enjoying it. Have Maya Banks’ book in my radar. Its at an affordable price and has had great reviews.

I’m currently reading Carrie Vaughn’s “Kitty’s House of Horrors” (book 7, I think).

I spent way too much time trying to finish Jill Shalvis’s “Sweet and Sexy”. I finally gave up on it. That’s the only time I’ve ever done that with a Shalvis but it just wasn’t working for me. 🙁
