Tracy’s review of Swap Meet by Lolita Lopez

French billionaire Max Dantes never expected to spend his Saturday night at a sex-partner swap meet in one of Houston’s swankiest hotels. When smoking-hot firefighter Chris Collins hits on Max, his night takes an even more unexpected turn. Soon he’s pinned to a mattress beneath the sexiest specimen of raw masculinity he’s ever seen…and questioning everything he’s ever believed about himself.

Chris went to the swap meet looking for a fling but finds so much more. Soon Max is treating him to the kind of luxuries only a billionaire can offer. But when Max wants something more than an illicit tryst, Chris bolts. He’s just not ready for that kind of commitment or the potential consequences—and prejudices—of going public. Or is he? But by the time Chris realizes his mistake, it just might be too late.

Max had never been approached by a man before – at least when it came to sex. But Max had become unsatisfied with the women in his life and takes a chance when Chris gives him his card – which has his hotel room number on it – and heads to Chris’s room.

Chris realizes almost immediately that Max is inexperienced with men so he takes it slow. What becomes of their time together has them both wanting more from each other. This is difficult though since Chris is a firefighter in Houston, TX and Max is a billionaire financial wizard who lives in France. They managed to be together though until Chris realizes that their lives are too different and end the relationship. It takes tragedy to bring the two together to work it all out.

This was a very different story than what I’m used to when it comes to reading m/m stories. I don’t think I’ve ever read a story where the men are so very apart in their occupations or financial situations. That being said it was very satisfying to see the two men working out their issues.

At first I thought that Max was a little too gung-ho with Chris considering that he’d never been with a man before but the way the book was written you could tell that it just felt right for him to be with Chris. Love transcends gender. And then poor Chris feeling lowly because he felt that he wasn’t good enough for Max and his friends – although Max never felt that way I could feel Chris’s insecurities.

Overall it was a very good category romance

Rating: 4 out of 5
