Until Zack Ferguson shows up in town . . . with the daughter Katie gave up for adoption nearly seventeen years ago.

Zack Ferguson has never forgotten Katie, or the one magical night they spent together. Jack has clashed with Alessandra in the past, so when she suddenly surrenders her body he can’t help being suspicious. Is she a scheming temptress? Or is she truly a lady in trouble? As desire and deceptions swirl around them, Alessandra and Jack must find a way to win each other’s trust. 1. What makes a good mom is a woman who is supportive of her kids, who tries to understand their point of view and loves them with all her heart.

I found Laura, Kam’s adopted mom in Shadows of the Past by Lindsay McKenna to be a great mom and Iris to be a fabulous birth grandma- The book had great role models tho the virago villainess was everything a woman shouldn’t be – tho it must be said that she really was trying to do her best for her kids.

  2. I found Sarah from Linda Howard’s Sarah’s Child to be a great mom. In the beginning she had to raise her child basically alone even tho she was married. She was caring and loved both her child and her husband very much, knowing her husband was going thru a torment of his own.

A great mother is someone who sets a good example, is a good listener and always lets her child know they are loved and that mom will always be there for them.

    Will post my links later.

  3. Great contest!

I think what makes a great mother is a willingness to share of one’s self, without forcing one’s own mold and beliefs on their children. I grew up with a mother who offered a guiding hand, but she led by example. She let us figure out for ourselves who we were as human beings, and what we believed. As a result, all of her children have an extremely strong sense of self that is very helpful in dealing with the world – particularly when there is so much cruelty and nastiness.

Violet Bridgerton from Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton novels is one of my favorite romance moms. My mom reads romance too – it’s one of the bonds we share – and I know she loved those books too.. I can’t help but think of her when I read it. 🙂

I’m biased.. I think my mom is the best mom ever.

I also posted about the contest via Twitter: http://twitter.com/CupK8/status/13304030338

If I have time today, I’ll post on the blog too. 🙂

  4. Well, I love Lady Bridgerton from Julia Quinn’s regencies–she’s truly great. Heh, even when she can’t tell her daughters anything pertinent about the marriage bed *snort*

Another great mother is Roz from Nora Roberts’ In the Garden trilogy–how I wish she were my mom! Or, even better, that I could sit down with her and chat about mothering young adults! :sigh:

I’ve posted about the giveaway at the Book Lovers Message Board and in the Literature section of MyMedia-Forum.

A great mother is supportive and understanding but also knows when to give her children the freedom to make their own decisions.

Violet Bridgerton from Julia Quinn’s Bridgerton books, especially in An Offer from a Gentleman, is a great mother. She really cares about her children’s happiness and she knows them, sometimes better than they know themselves.

A good Mom has to love thier children equally, also be there for them to talk to and have their back when things aren’t going so good.
Ma from Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books was a great Mom.

A mother has to be strong and protective of yor children and be a leader in showing them how to live their life the best they can.

    Marmee from Little Women was
    sweet and always supportive.

  8. A great Mom comes and gets you when you get your wisdom teeth pulled, makes you broth, and stays with you even when the vicodin wears off. 🙂 I’ve had first hand knowledge of that this week.

My favorite fictional mom is the mom from the Bridgerton series…she’s spunky, smart, and I loved her!

  9. A great mom is someone who loves you unconditionally, whos there for you during your ups and down.

Since I read mostly paranormal/UF there’s not a lot of moms in them. off the top of my head I’ll say Elena Michaels,Women of the Otherworld series by Kelley Armstrong.

  10. What makes a great mother… just simply being there. No matter when, no matter what time, just listening, never judging… Knowing when it is time to give the advice and knowing when just take it all in.

I woudl have to saw that a good mom that I can think of is Stephanie Plum from Janet Evanovich. I forgot her name, but she only wanted what was best for her daughter!

  11. What makes a great Mother? Love. Everything else comes from love–understanding, patience, respect, strength, devotion, acceptance, protectiveness, support–anything and everything that a Mother needs to have grows from love.

Someone earlier chose Mrs. Bridgerton, in Julia Quinn’s series. I agree she’s a good choice. I also love Marmie, from Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women–she holds everything together for the family, in spite of much adversity.

I think, other than loving them, the most important thing is letting your child be their own person.

My all-time favorite literary mother is Moominmomma. — willaful

  13. I think a great mom is one who is willing to listen to them (to me that’s a biggie) and just love them no matter what.

I’ll have to go with Violet Bridgerton like some others.

  14. comethespring

Please enter me! I have to be honest; I read a whole lotta romance and there isn’t one mother who stands out to me as being that memorable so I have to say, I don’t have a favorite.

I blogged about the contest here, http://bit.ly/a1enEg

Sorry, I forgot to say what I think makes a good mother. Someone who isn’t too overbearing or negative.

    Thanks,

A great mother is someone who is there for you. No matter what. No matter when. No questions asked. I am lucky to have one with that exact title.
I honestly cannot recall a mother very well in a romance book.

  17. A great mother is supportive, positive and encouraging you to be your best.
I loved Lily in Fireworks over Toccoa as a wonderful mother/grandmother

  18. I would love to be entered in this give-away. I think some of the qualities of my mom were her intuitive sensitive to life and the people around her; she was quiet but strong in so many ways. I have often styled her as “the iron fist in the velvet glove.” She was so strong in so many ways — a fitting counterpart to my dad who was also very strong but so very sensitive in lots of ways.

I think one of my most favorite family books — I am reaching way back in my personal history here — is Pearl Buck’s “The Good Earth.” Just a classic story that has stood the test of time. Of course there is also the mom in “Little Women. . .”

  19. someone who will listin with understanding.to allow you to make your own mistakes but is their to pick you up if you fall.to give all the support you need.a hug whe needed..Mother in book Lorraine Heath’s TO MARRY AN HEIRESS Georgina was a great mother

  20. A great mother is someone who takes care of your basic needs then heaps love, understanding and encouragement on top of all that! And someone who also teaches by example to respect woman.

A great mother from a book is Ma, Caroline Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie.

A great mother is one who nurtures her children. She recognizes their strengths and their talents and helps them to develop both. She recognizes that her children are individuals and lets them grow to be themselves.

ANNE OF GREEN GABLES. She was an orphan, but the aunt and uncle she lived with nurtured her and helped her develop into the woman she became. For me, the mother position can be filled by someone who is not necessarily the biological mother.

  22. A great mother is one who a) WANTS to be a mother (in other words, does it with intention) even if the circumstances aren’t always ideal, and b) is willing to do whatever it takes to take care of her child.

A wonderfully sweet and romantic story featuring just such a mom is Lynne Marshall’s medical romance, HER BABY’S SECRET FATHER, (2006) UK
    By: Harlequin Books S.A.
    ISBN: 0-263-84757-8

MOM is always there for you 🙂

a great mom story is by lisa scottoline: Look Again.

  24. Ofcourse a great mum is a mother who is there for you no matter what, cares for you and supports you, but I think it’s also very important that she stands for her own opinion and is not afraid to show that if it’s not in line withy our own.

A great mother in a romance novel, hmmm, I’ve been pondering and pondering but found it difficult to point out a great mother in one single book I’ve read so far, but I do know of a great mother in a series from way back when and that is from the MacGregor-clan series by Nora Roberts.

  25. A good mom is patient and brave! It;s not a romance novel but Molly Weasley in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows comes to mind as a great mom in a novel!

    delilah0180(at)yahoo(dot)com

  26. A good mother listens! Supportive, in-depth conversation is the best way to a daughter’s heart, IMO. I like April Robillard in Susan Elizabeth Phillips’ “Natural BOrn Charmer”. She was once a bad mother, but she makes up for it once she reforms.

    leighofthestone(at)yahoo(dot)com

  27. Julie at Outlandish Dreaming

A good mother is a mother that understands her son/daughter and what their limitations can be and won’t fault them for it. They are understanding and supportive, yet are also realistic, they’re there when needed, and know when to stand back and let their kids grow and be strong individuals.

Violet Bridgerton is a great mother! From all the Bridgerton Series books by Julia Quinn.
