Rowena’s review of Prince Charming by Julie Garwood.

Hero: Lucas Ross
Heroine: Taylor Stapleton

Only her beloved grandmother, Lady Esther, knew how devastated Taylor Stapleton had been when her fiancé eloped with Taylor’s cousin. Now dear Esther — one of London’s richest and most formidable matriarchs — lies dying. But first she was going to help Taylor pull off the scam of the season.

To escape becoming a ward of her unscrupulous uncle, Taylor would wed Lucas Ross, a rugged American rancher. Lady Esther’s money would enable Ross to return home to Montana. Taylor had her own urgent reason to go to America…a precious legacy she hadn’t revealed to Ross, for they had agreed to part ways once they reached Boston. But as her handsome new husband spoke of life in Montana, Taylor began planning a new future. To Taylor, the wide-open spaces of Montana sounded like paradise…

I love this book. I don’t remember too many people being as wildly in love with this book the same way that I was. My sisters weren’t too crazy about this book and I thought they were crazy because I loved both Lucas and Taylor. I think the reason that I love this book so much is because it’s different from all of JG’s other books and it’s a very involved story. For me, this story was very refreshing. Lucas and Taylor were characters that felt real to me and it was easy for me to fall in love with the both of them.

Lady Taylor’s rich grandmother is dying and is desperate to see Taylor married and far away from her evil, money hungry uncle Malcolm. Enter Lucas Ross. He comes to England to fetch Taylor and then off they are to America where he later finds out that Taylor has a hidden agenda. It’s nothing shady or anything but the way that Lucas just jumped right in when Taylor called for him, to save her from whatever mischief she had gotten herself into, I loved it. I absolutely loved it. The way that he just shouldered everything and was the man of the house made me sigh my little heart out. He was Taylor’s Mountain Man and I thought he was smexy.

Lady Taylor, in her own right was fantastic. A flat out fantastic heroine. The lengths she went to find her family members and the strength she showed when going about everything made me admire the hell out of her. The way that she was instantly the nurturer to those kids and the easy way that she fell in love with them made me a total Taylor fan. She was a great match for Lucas (something that JG excels at) and I loved how she tried to make things right with the people that her sister was mean to.

Overall, this book was just a flat out great book. There were some minor things that I irked my nerves a bit like…WHO THE HELL IS VICTORIA’S BABY DADDY? I mean, there was some mystery behind him and then BAM! Nothing. But aside from that, I adored this book. I adored the setting, the characters and the love that blossomed between Lucas and Taylor. I loved that we got to watch them fall in love, I loved that we were there right in the thick of their romance. It was great. If you haven’t read this book then you should definitely fix that. This one is a keeper for me.

And did you see? Lucas Ross is doing great in the Last Hero Standing Challenge, GO LUCAS!

  1. This is one of my favorite JG’s books, as I told Holly last week. I am shocked that she didn’t like it.

I read it like once a month! LOL

Lucas Ross is my kind of man!
