Happy Tuesday!

I’ll start this post by stating the winner of the Las Vegas Book Giveaway (chosen by random.org) so that you all don’t have to read about my weekend trip unless you really want to. 🙂

The winner is:

Patti

Congratulations! Please email your snail mail address to me at redneyrae AT ca DOT rr DOT com and I’ll get those out to you!

How was your weekend everyone? Did you all have a nice one? I had a great weekend but am exhausted! lol The girls and I shopped and ate and shopped and saw Amazed at the V Theatre (which was great) in the Planet Hollywood Miracle Mile and ate some more. That was all on Saturday! lol Then on Sunday the girls and my hubby went swimming while I read by the pool, we went to New York, New York so that my oldest could ride the roller coaster, we played arcade games until we were blue in the face and then we went and saw the V Variety Show (again, at the V Theatre) which was incredibly fun and funny. Monday we took the girls to see a couple of the hotels that they were dying to see inside, like the Luxor and Mandalay Bay and then drove home. The drive home was grueling! It usually takes 4 to 4 1/2 hours. With traffic because of the holiday it took 7 hours!! But in the end a great time was had by all! 🙂 (I did take some pictures of the girls but haven’t downloaded them yet. When I do I’ll post a couple.)

I didn’t get a whole lot of reading done this past week since things were busy and of course not much this weekend since it was go, go, go. I’m going to tell you what I’ve read last week as well as what I read over the weekend up until last night since I got most of my reading done in the car on that loooooong drive home. 🙂

First up was Hunting Ground by Patricia Briggs. I read this for my re-read challenge and you can read my review here.

Next up was Renegade by Sarah Parr. This is a book about a woman who was saved from certain death by a privateer. The two travel back to England and eventually fall in love. There is love, romance, passion, secrets and intrigue in this book. I have to say I didn’t love the first part of the book – it seemed very disjointed at times – but it got much better as it went on. 4 out of 5

I actually started my Tracy’s TBR Challenge book for the week, Dark Victory by Brenda Joyce, last Thursday night but didn’t actually finish it until yesterday in the car! lol It was another good addition to the Masters of Time series and the second book in the Rose Trilogy. I just bought the last in the trilogy and am looking forward to starting it. BJ said in a “Dear Reader” letter at the end of this book that the next book is very dark…very cool! lol 4 out of 5

Yesterday on the way home I also read the novella Three of a Kind by Sean Michael. This is a story about a young man, Zane, who is on the run from a man he thought he loved but who beat him severely and was a total shit. His truck breaks down in the Arizona desert and he is saved by Butch who takes him home and takes care of him with his boyfriend, Randy. Randy and Butch are incredibly good to Zane and eventually passion and love ignites. This was a good short read. Randy was an artist and more than a little ADD which was quite funny at times while Butch was the more stable one in the partnership. I liked how they worked so well together in their relationship and were so very gentle with Zane which was exactly what he needed. 4 out of 5

Happy Reading!

I enjoyed three of a kind as well. It was nice how they didn't push Zane and were able to show him that sex and love didn't have to be violent and painful. Randy would make me crazy. LOL

  2. Glad you had a great weekend in Vegas!

I think I've dropped out of the Keishon's TBR Challenge. But I may still try to do it on my own… just not post on the "required" day so to speak. I can't handle a specific deadline right now. Oh well.

  3. Oh, thank you so much – sending my address now!! I'm so excited, I didn't have either of these books!

Sounds like a everyone had a good trip and I have to laugh, I get a lot of reading done in the car when we do the 6-hour trip from New Orleans to Houston twice a year!

  4. Tam – Randy would drive me batty as well. Cute, but I think only in a book! lol
I forgot to mention that their pattern of speech through most of the first part of the book was a little odd as well.

Christine – Hey – you know sometimes those challenges are great…unless RL gets in the way. I don't think that it's bad to do it on your own time schedule. You gotta do what you gotta do. 🙂

Patii – you're welcome and congrats again. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
Yes, those long drives are wonderful for reading. I used to get car sick but not anymore – thank heavens!

  5. Tracy, so glad you had a good time, but it sounds exhausting, lol!

    Congratulations, Patti!

I must get this short by Sean Michael… I haven't read it yet and he's a favorite of mine. Thanks for posting on this one.

I liked Dark Victory better than the previous installments in the Joyce series… the next one actually sounds even better.

  6. Congrats Patti!!! Happy reading honey!!
