It’s that time again…

Rowena:

August was a better reading month new books for me. I’ve fallen into re-reading old favorites to shake the mini reading slump I fell into in July so this past month, I focused on knocking some review copies out of the way and I thought I did okay. I’m super excited to have made it past . I’m still up on the one reading challenge that I’m tracking like a mad dog…the Read 100 books this year challenge. I’m kicking ass in that challenge so I’m excited.

Here’s my list:

  1. Table Manners by Mia King-4 out of 5
  2. Since the Surrender by Julie Ann Long– 3 out of 5
  3. Lucky in Love by Carolyn Brown- 3.5 out of 5 (review to come soon)
  4. Cry No More by Linda Howard
  5. The Infamous Rogue by Alexandra Benedict– 3 out of 5
  6. Waking Nightmare by Kylie Brant- 4.5 out of 5 (review to come soon)
  7. Hot Pursuit by Suzanne Brockmann– 4.5 out of 5
  8. The Secret by Julie Garwood– 4.5 out of 5
  9. See Megan Rub by Melissa Blue– 4.5 out of 5
  10. Heart of Fire by Linda Howard- 5 out of 5 (joint review to come soon)
  11. What Happens in London by Julia Quinn- 5 out of 5
  12. A Dark Love by Margaret Carroll– 2.75 out of 5
  13. First Lady by Susan Elizabeth Phillips- 4.5 out of 5
  14. There’s Something About St. Tropez by Elizabeth Adler- 4 out of 5

My favorite read of this month is WHAT HAPPENS IN LONDON by Julia Quinn. I read that book for a joint review over at Breezing Through so be on the look out for that review coming soon and it just had me laughing all dang day. It was such a fun book but since we already held a giveaway for that book, I’m going to be giving away one of my other favorite reads this month which is HEART OF FIRE by Linda Howard. It’s an oldie but goody. If you haven’t read this book you should definitely read it because it’s one of the very few books that all three of us here at Book Binge absolutely love. You won’t find that happen all that often so for all of you doubters out there, pick this book up. Seriously. It was really good.

Casee:

August was another good reading month for me. That surprises me since my kids were out of school. Then again, maybe I needed the escape reading brings more than I do during the non-summer months. The best books I read in August are The Perfect Couple by Brenda Novak and Blaze of Memory by Nalini Singh. A honorable mention goes to Leslie Parrish’s Black CAT series. My total for August (including re-reads) was 21.

Tasting Fear by Shannon McKenna (3/5)
Heartbreaker by Linda Howard (3.5/5)
Mr. Perfect by Linda Howard (4/5)

Holly:

This was a much better reading month for me. I don’t want to jinx myself, but I think I’m finally out of that nasty slump. WOOT! I read 16 books this month, including re-reads. Considering I read 9 last month, I’d say that’s an improvement.

Demon Forged by Meljean Brook 4.5/5
Breathing Room by SEP (re-read) 4.75/5
Magnate’s Make-Believe Mistress by Bronwyn James 4/5
Inherited: One Child by Day Leclaire 3.75/5
A Fortune Wedding by Kristin Hardy 2/5
Make Me Yours by Betina Krahn 4/5
Rewriting Monday by Jodi Thomas 4/5
The Wicked Ways of a Duke by Laura Lee Guhrke 3.25/5
I Can See You by Karen Rose 4.75/5
Storm Watch by Jill Shalvis 4/5
Beyond the Rain by Jess Granger 4/5
Highland Wolf by Hannah Howell 3.5/5
A Father for Jesse by Ann Roth 3.5/5
Heart of Fire by Linda Howard 4.75/5 (re-read)
Kiss an Angel by SEP (re-read) 4.5/5
Natural Born Charmer by SEP (re-read) 4.5/5

Not only was the quantity of my reading up this month, but so was the quality. I read a lot of really great books this month. My favorites are Demon Forged by Meljean Brook (book 8 in the Guardians series and probably the most emotionally compelling so far) and I Can See You by Karen Rose. Honorable mentions go to Rewriting Monday by Jodi Thomas and my Susan Elizabeth Phillips re-reads. My least favorite read of the month was A Fortune Wedding by Kristin Hardy. It just didn’t work for me.

This month we’re giving away:

The Perfect Couple by Brenda Novak
I Can See You by Karen Rose
Heart of Fire by Linda Howard

  1. I read a bunch of great books in August and some of my favorites were the two Leslie Parrish books and Written on Your Skin by Meredith Duran. There were some books I didn’t care for but since I didn’t finish them I am not going to name them.

  2. I read alot of great books in August and some of my favorites are “I Can See You” by Karen Rose, “Gone Tomorrow” by Lee Child”, “Wicked Prey” by John Sandford, “Hot Pursuit” by Suzanne Brockmann, “Bad Moon Rising” by Sherrilyn Kenyon and “One Reckless Summer” by Toni Blake.

I already own “I Can See You” by Karen Rose, thanks!

  3. Heart of Fire looks good 🙂

My fav read, well must be The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. Truly good YA.
Least fav would be The Host by S.Meyer, I speadread it in 1 hour cos I didn’t connect at all and just wanted to see what happened and have it over with.

  4. I only managed to get one book read this month which is a whole lot less than I normally read. The book was The Constant Gardener by John Le Carre and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I would love to be entered in your draw for I Can See You by Karen Rose. The book looks amazing! Thanks for holding the draw!

  5. Some of my favorites were Wicked by Sasha White, Kissing Midnight, Saving Midnight and Breaking Midnight all by Emma Holly. Out of the Light and Into the Shadows by Lori Foster and Erin McCarthy was also a good one.

The one that I cannot get into is Smash Cut by Sandra Brown, and I really like her too. I don’t know why, but this one is just not doing it for me. I have had it for a few weeks and have not yet finished it!

  6. This was not a good reading month for me… most of mine were not that great… the saving grace was ‘The Weight of Silence’ by Heather Gudenkauf… FANTASTIC book!

  7. Please enter me for The Perfect Couple or I Can See You.

I really did not read any that I did not like in August. Loved Gotcha, With a Twist, Healing Luke. All V.G.

  8. I read so many good ones this month. Some of my faves were Bengal’s Heart by Lora Leigh, Saving Midnight by Emma Holly, Tasting fear by Shannon Mckenna, Relentless by Lauren Dane, The Darkest Whisper by Gena Showalter. But I will say that the one I love the most is also my least favorite. Dreamfever by Karen Marie Moning. I love this book and I haven’t shut up about it. I have been kept up at night pondering this book. The reason it is my least is because talk about a cliffhanger….and I got to wait for the next book. I’ll drive myself crazy by then.

I would love to be entered for Heart Of Fire by Linda Howard

  9. Jane

My favorite read of the month was Susan Andersen’s “Bending the Rules.” Miranda Lee’s “A Scandalous Marriage” was an okay read for me. I would like to be entered for the copy of Brenda Novak’s “The Perfect Couple.”

  10. Luci

I had two favourites this month. Eloisa James’ A Duke of Her Own – the perfect closing of the Desperate Duchesses series and Purity in Death another fabulous J D Robb – I am reading these slowly and in order but I haven’t been disappointed yet.

My least favourite was Annie Solomon’s Tell Me Lies.

I would like ot be put in the draw for Brenda Novak’s The Perfect Couple as I have ordered I Can See You.

    Thanks

August seemed to be an ok month. Some of my favorites meredith duran’s bound by your touch, amanda’s quick’s scandal, finally jayne ann krentz’s Lady’s choice. Least favorite was Susan Mallery’s Falling for Gracie. I just couldn’t get the book unfortunately!

Please enter me in for Brenda Novak’s The Perfect Couple and Karen Rose’s I can see you. I do have the heart of fire already.

    Thank you.

  12. My favorite books read in August were: The Last Stormlord by Glenda Larke; The Perfect Storm by Sebastian Junger and The Magicians by Lev Grossman. The Sheikh’s Unwilling Wife by Sharon Kendrick and The Brass Bed by Jennifer Stevenson were my least favorite books read in August.

Enter me for Heart of Fire by Linda Howard, please.

  13. I read only a few books this month and I liked them all. Favorites were Bengal’s Heart by Lora Leigh and Hidden Currents by Christine Feehan

  14. Hi – Nice blog! I read 18 books in August.
My least favorite was Chasing Shadows by Laura Hope – it just didn’t work for me. Started out well but lost me midway.

My favorite was Looking Through the Mist by Rebecca Vickery – she does great romantic suspense that is sensual not erotic.

I’ve read the Linda Howard book (I liked it). I am getting the Karen Rose Audio… so my pick will be The Perfect Couple by Brenda Novak.
    Thanks! Martha mesreadsATgmail.com

Wow – I’ve been reading like mad this summer! Some of my favorites were the DreamHouse King series, I loved A Brief History of Montmaray. Also the The Thirteenth Tale.

I didn’t really care for Admission or My Name Is Will. They were okay.

Also read Hollywood is Like High School with Money by Zoey Dean, that was such a fun read 🙂

I’d love to win any of the books listed, but I’d especially enjoy winning:
    I Can See You

  16. I really enjoyed reading Hot Pursuit by Suzanne Brockmann. My least favorite was Touched by Light by Catherine Spangler. I just reached my 100th book in the Harlequin challenge.

The Perfect Couple looks really good.

  17. Last month was awesome! I read 20 books (best month so far), three of them were rereads. Almost all were four or five star reads. The best one was Dreamfever by KMM.
Other great books: Thorn Queen by Richelle Mead, Blood Promise by Richelle Mead, All About Men by Shannon McKenna, Burning Wild by Christine Feehan, Shoulda Been a Cowboy by Lorelei James, Visions of Heat by Nalini Singh…. I could go on and on… No bad reads at all 🙂

I’d love to win The Perfect Couple by Brenda Novak. I’ve never read her books before!

  18. Dang! I must start keeping track of the books I read in any given month….

Not sure if this one counts but I recently finished listening to Outlander on audio book and I’m about 2/5 into Dragonfly in Amber. Davina Porter is an awesome narrator and I’ve totally gone gooey over Jamie Fraser. I’m considering time travel myself so I can hit Claire over the heat and take her place!!

I’d love to read the new Karen Rose, so if I win, please count me in for that one. Otherwise, the Brenda Novak – I’m so easy! (I already have the Linda Howard).

    thx ladies!
