June Monthly Reads

Holly:

This month was pretty busy for me, so I only managed to read 10 books. Sadly I’m unable to read in the car (I get car sick) so I wasted about 12 hours of good reading time just riding in the car. Stupid car sickness!
Anyway, on with the list:

Burning Wild by Christine Feehan – 3/5
Sexual Healing by Moira Rogers – 4/5
Come Lie with Me by Linda Howard – 4/5
Tears of the Renegade by Linda Howard – 3.5/5
Butterfly Tattoo by Deirdre Knight – 4/5
Black Hills by Nora Roberts – 3/5 or 3.5/5 (I keep waffling. We’ll see how the review comes out)
What Happens in London by Julia Quinn – 4.25/5
The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever by Julia Quinn – 2.5/5
Seduced into a Paper Marriage by Maureen Child – 3/5
To Ruin the Duke by Debra Mullins 3.75/5

My reading might be down from last month, but I did managed to review 13 books, so at least I’m improving somewhere.

My favorite read of the month was What Happens in London by Julia Quinn. It was such a fun read and just what I was in the mood for. Honorable mentions go to Sexual Healing and Butterfly Tattoo. If you haven’t already read Butterfly Tattoo I suggest you do so. It’s very unique and unconventional. I’m not sure I’d actually classify it as a romance, but it’s still a fabulous read.

My least favorite read of the month is The Secret Diaries of Miss Miranda Cheever. The writing was as stellar as always, but the characters drove me up the wall.

Casee:

June was a pathetic month for me. Almost half my reads were re-reads. I found a great new author, thanks to Borders. I liked Rescue Me by Christy Reece so much, that I actually reviwed it twice. My total for the month (including re-reads) was 15.

Bengal’s Heart by Lora Leigh 4.25/5.
Magic in the Wind by Christine Feehan (re-read) 4.5/5.
Twilight Before Christmas by Christine Feehan (re-read) 4.5/5.
Oceans of Fire by Christine Feehan (re-read) 4.25/5.
Dangerous Tides by Christine Feehan (re-read) 4.75/5.
Safe Harbor by Christine Feehan 4.5/5.
Atlantis Unmasked by Alyssa Day 4/5.
Silver Falls by Anne Stuart 3.5/5.
Rescue Me by Christy Reece 4.25.5.
Return to Me by Christy Reece 4.5/5.
Dying to Please by Linda Howard (re-read) 4.5/5.
The Pursuit by Karen Robards 4/5.
Real Men Last All Night by Lori Foster, Lora Leigh, Cheyenne McCray, and Heidi Betts 4/5.
How to Score by Robin Wells 4.5.
Butterfly Tattoo by Deidre Knight (Still haven’t decided)

Wena:

This month wasn’t a really big reading month for me (what’s new, eh?) but here’s my list:

Glitter Baby by Susan Elizabeth Phillips (DNF)
Vision in White by Nora Roberts (4 out of 5)
All that Matters by Stef Ann Holm (4 out of 5)
The Duke & I by Julia Quinn (5 out of 5)
Whitney, My Love by Judith McNaught (3 out of 5)
Memoirs of a Scandalous Red Dress by Elizabeth Boyle (3.5 out of 5)
The Accidental Bestseller by Wendy Wax (4 out of 5)
Instant Gratification by Jill Shalvis (4.5 out of 5)
L.A. Candy by Lauren Conrad (3 out of 5)
Four Dukes and a Devil by Cathy Maxwell, Elaine Fox, Jeaniene Frost, Sophia Nash and Tracy Anne Warren (4 out of 5)

I tried for 15 but didn’t exactly make that number, oh well. Dangit. My favorite read of the month is between Instant Gratification by Jill Shalvis or The Duke & I with honorable mentions to Vision in White by Nora Roberts.

This month we’re going to giveaway:

Butterfly Tattoo by Deirdre Knight (in e-format)
Sexual Healing by Moira Rogers (in e-format)
Vision in White by Nora Roberts
Rescue Me by Christy Reece

Wena I did a reread of The Duke and I in June too and i give it 5/5 too. Fantastic read! Sadly even I did not manage to finish Glitter Baby and I am a huge SEP fan.

I keep a list of the books I read a I have a terrible memory but it is on my laptop at work.

Holly, I have 1 word for you: Audiobooks! They sure make those long drives go fast. 🙂

I’ve heard some great things about Butterfly Tatoo. It seems like a hard, emotional read, but it sounds like it’s worth it! That would be my choice.

  9. Tabitha

I read 21 books in June, two of which were re-reads: The Duke and I by Julia Quinn and You Can’t Hide by Karen Rose. I have two favorite reads for the month — Branded by Fire which I read on the very last day of June due by luck that I chanced across it at Borders who released the book 2 weeks early! And the second book was Reforming a Rake by Suzanne Enoch, my first book by the author and I loved it!

I’m interested in Butterfly Tattoo by Diedre Knight!

  10. Lori

Mine was A Hint of Wicked. Loved it. Even tough I don’t usually like triangles.

Looking at my June list only one romance really stands out: Not Quite a Husband by Sherry Thomas. There was a lot of blah reading last month.

I’m getting Vision in White from the library, so would really love to have a chance to read Butterfly Tattoo, which sounds so interesting and the library will definitely never have. :-\ — willaful

  13. My favorite reads for June were Angels’ Blood by Nalini Singh and Mark of the Demon by Diana Rowland.

I would love to read Christy Reece’s Rescue Me.

  14. ...

Another one bites the Dust – J. Rardin (I just discovered this author with this book) I liked it a lot.

  15. Hm.. such a hard decision, picking my favorite book out of the 30 (yes, 30!) I somehow managed to read in June. Even I’m not sure how I did it, I had so much to do, but my theory is I somehow figured out how to stop time and didn’t realize it! LOL. JK.

Okay, my favorite was probably Dawnkeepers by Jessica Andersen– can’t wait for Skykeepers later this year!

And even though all of the books look interesting, I’m going to say “Butterfly Tattoo” by Deirdre Knight. I have a lot of her books on my wish list! 😉

    Enjoy,
    TBQ

  16. My favorite June read was TO BEGUILE A BEAST by Elizabeth Hoyt.

Throw my name in the hat for VISION IN WHITE by Nora Roberts, please. I am in the process of reading Nora’s MacKade Brothers books for the first time. I am really enjoying them.

  17. My favorite book for June was The Surgeon’s Lady by Carla Kelly. I would love to win Vision in White by Nora Roberts.

  18. My favorite reads for June was Cry For Passion by Robin Schone and Someone To Watch Over Me by Lisa Kleypas. I would love a chance to win Rescue Me by Christy Reese. Thanks for the giveaway.

  21. I read 24 books in June most of which were not actually romances (been on a science fiction kick lately)so the romance that really stood out for me was Scions: Resurrection by Patrice Michelle.

My favourite read of the whole month however was Brothers In Arm by Lois McMaster Bujold.

  22. I had a blah month as well. I think An Indecent Proposition by Emma Wildes was at the beginning of the month. That was an easy keeper. Another for me was a Harlequin Present – The Spaniard’s Marriage Bargain by Abby Green. Another one that I’ll reread.
