Casee‘s review of She’s Got It Bad by Sarah Mayberry.

Twelve years ago Zoe Ford let Liam Masters break her heart. But now? There’s not a chance. Zoe is as tough and wild as they come. So when Liam shows up at her tattoo parlor, she’s more than ready to take him on again. That’s not going to be a hardship, since he’s hotter than he ever was.

This time she’s staying in charge. And she’s not going to consider their score settled until he’s hot, bothered and begging for more! Then she’ll move on as callously as he left her. Unless all that deliciously bad sex is just too good to give up….

This is probably the most unconventional Harlequin I’ve ever read. Liam is your typical bad boy-turned good hero. Zoe is not your typical heroine at all. When Liam broke her heart when she was fifteen, she never really recovered. What she did after he was gone ended up shaping the person she became. Though she wouldn’t call herself a happy person, she’s somewhat content.

When Liam sees a nude painting of Zoe, he just about has a coronary on the spot. After tracking her down, Liam is not surprised to find her working at a tattoo parlor, living in a studio apartment. After all, posing nude isn’t something a successful person does. He’s determined to “help” her.

That’s about the only thing about Liam that I didn’t like. He was so self-righteous about what he thought was right for Zoe. He just assumed that she needed help b/c of where she worked and lived. Maybe she wasn’t happy, but his judgment was a little too much.

Zoe is more than dismayed that she’s just as attracted to Liam now as she was when she was fifteen. The difference is that she’s an adult that knows the score. She’s convinced that she can keep it purely sexual. Ha.

I think that the type of heroine that Zoe was made her even more deserving of a happily ever after. I really liked how Zoe helped Liam resolve his childhood issues. It just worked. There was conflict throughout the book, but I liked that there was no BIG MISUNDERSTANDING. It totally wouldn’t have worked in this book.

4.25 out of 5.
