Re-Read Challenge Review: Pack Challenge by Shelly Laurenston

All Zach Sheridan ever wanted was to become Alpha Male of his Pack and to be left alone. What he definitely didn’t need in his life was some needy female demanding his attention. What he never saw coming was the vicious, scarred female who not only demanded his attention but knew exactly how to get it.

Sara Morrighan knew this was the best she could expect from her life. Good friends. A nice place to live. And a safe job. But when Zach rode into her small Texas town with his motorcycle club, Sara knew she wanted more. She knew she wanted him. But after one sexy encounter with her dream biker, everything is starting to change. Her body. Her strength. That new thing she’s doing with the snarling. Even her best friends are starting to wonder what’s going on with her.

But this is only the beginning. Sara’s about to find out her life was meant for so much more. And Zach’s about to find true love with the one woman who makes him absolutely insane.

Sara isn’t happy. She’s content with her life and figures this is about all she’s gonna get out of it. Her grandmother died a few months earlier – which she is quite happy about since the woman was a total bitch – and she’s just taking life one day at a time.

Then Zach comes to town. Sara doesn’t know that he and his wolf pack are there for her. You see Sara’s parents were shapeshifters and Sara is one too, but her evil grandmother refused to live that life and kept the info from Sara all these years. Now that granny’s gone the Magnus pack is there to claim her. Besides the issues with telling Sara of who and what she is there’s also the lion pride that’s in town to try and kill Sara.

I love this book! It’s got humor, bitchiness, friendship, love, hot sex and shapeshifters. What’s not to love?

I read this book about a year and half ago and loved it then as well but wasn’t sure how I would feel about it now. I’m happy to say that it didn’t disappoint. I know that this isn’t a book for everyone. Not all people love the snarky, nasty arguing that Sara and her friends do – all with love for each other. And certainly not everyone appreciates the bitchiness that Sara shows Zach time and time again – which I thought was hilarious. Some would think that Sara is too hard and definitely too psychotic – but for me it was wonderful. This is definitely a keeper for me!

Rating: 4.5 out of 5 (which is the same rating I gave it 18 months ago – yay me.)

So when I went to SL’s website and was looking around I found out that she is also G.A. Aiken, author of Dragon Actually that I really liked! How stupid am I that I didn’t know that? Don’t answer that!

  1. Haha, Tracy, that’s okay, we’re allowed moments like that from time to time :).

I would like to read some of her Laurenston books. I’ve only read her Dragon books. You read those, do her other books have the same humor in them, or is it only her GA Aiken books?

  2. Amy – there is definitely humor in these books by all means, but if I remember correctly it’s a little different type. I think you’d like them.
Thanks for allowing me my duh moment. 🙂

CJ – not at first. Her parents were killed when she was little and her grandmother (also a shifter, but denying the shifter part of her and was always human) raised her to know nothing about her heritage. She doesn’t find out until she’s 27 (or 28).

  3. This story sounds good. I haven’t read any of Larenston’s work but I’m definitely off to check this one out. I only read a few shifter stories, but really liked them.

  4. LOL, this month’s challenge is very costly to me! So many good suggestions! LOL 🙂

Someone recommend this book to me a while ago and I completely forgot about it 🙂 Thanks for reminding me! Sounds like a great book 😛

  5. “I love this book! It’s got humor, bitchiness, friendship, love, hot sex and shapeshifters. What’s not to love?”SOLD!

lol. Actually, I’ve got a wishlist going at MBAM, and I’ve added Pack Challenge for purchase.

    Thanks for the rec, Tracy!

  6. I love SL’s books. She creates the best female characters. Total sarcastic, tough, intelligent bitches and the way they treat their men?? Absolutely hilarious!

  7. Barbara – if you like all the things I described then you’ll like this book too. 🙂

Nath – I’m evil…I know. But after reading all the re-read reviews my tbb grew too! 🙂

Renee – knowing your sense of humor I think you’ll really enjoy it!

Kris – they are hilarious! And in this one? Who can’t love the werebunnies? lol

  8. This sounds interesting. And let me join you in the duh moment. I thought about getting Dragon Actually and it didn’t register that Aiken is also Shelly Laurenston. lol

  9. Thanks Kris!

Taja – Dragon Actually was a good book. Not fabulous but I did like it and of course liked the humor as well. I should have perused the Aiken site closer and I would have figured it out! lol

  10. This was one of the 1st lot of ebooks I read after lurking at TP’s blog for nigh on an age. I adore her work and went on and got some PB works. Groovy review!
