March Monthly Reading Lists

Holly Says:

March was a slow reading month for me (in comparison to Jan and Feb, anyway). I started the month out (unfortunately) with a total wallbanger and it ruined my reading mojo.

I read a total of 14 books, 2 of which were re-reads. 14 isn’t a bad number, unless you consider that I read 18 in Jan and 28 in Feb. Then 14 seems kind of pathetic.

March 2 – Snowbound by Janice Kay Johnson – 3.5/5
March 2 – Trouble in High Heels by Leanne Banks – 3.5/5
March 3 – All of Me by Lori Wilde – 2/5
March 12 – Temptation Ridge by Robyn Carr – 4/5
March 12 – Paradise Valley by Robyn Carr – 4/5
March 13 – Kiss an Angel by Susan Elizabeth Phillips – 4.5/5 (re-read)
march 16 – Slow Hands by Leslie Kelly – 3/5
March 18 – Too Hot To Handle by Robin Kaye – 2.5/5
March 20 – Irresistible Forces by Brenda Jackson – 4.25/5
March 21 – The Key by Lynsay Sands – 4.25/5
March 22 – Dream a Little Dream by Susan Elizabeth Phillips – 4.75/5(re-read)
March 23 – Giving Chase by Lauren Dane – 4.25/5
March 24 – Taking Chase by Lauren Dane – 3.25/5
March 25 – Chased by Lauren Dane – 4/5

Sadly I read quite a few wallbangers this month. I really hate it when that happens. I have to say my best read of the month was The Key by Lynsay Sands with honorable mentions to Giving Chase by Lauren Dane and both Susan Elizabeth Phillips re-reads I did. My worst reads for the month were All of Me by Lori Wilde (a HUGE disappointment since it’s the last in her Wedding Veil Wishes series) and, even more sadly for me, Too Hot Too Handle by Robin Kaye.

Just out of curiosity – I list my reads by the date I read them. Would you prefer I just number them, instead of listing them by the date? Do you care one way or the other?

Wena Says:

Holly, if that’s a slow going month for you then I should just go on ahead and kick the bucket because I sucked more this month than I did last month. So much for my “I’m gonna do better next month” mantra I had going at the beginning of March.

Ugh.

Oh well, here’s my list:

As far as enjoyment goes, this month was a good month. I didn’t read any books that were so bad, I wanted to shoot myself between the eyes so because of that, I’m a happy camper. Hands down, my favorite read of the month goes to BLUE EYED DEVIL by Lisa Kleypas. That book was just too good for words and Lisa Kleypas really knocked it out of the park with that one for me. A couple of honorable mentions go out to I’m In No Mood for Love, The Boyfriend Game by Stephie Davis and The Girl Most Likely To by Susan Donovan. I’m in No Mood for Love was a reread that I absolutely loved all over again and TBG was a great little book that I enjoyed with my niece so I would definitely recommend that book to any young daughter out there who’s looking for a cute and funny read. The Girl Most Likely To was another great read of the month, thanks to Holly for threatening to kick my ass if I don’t read that book. It was good, I enjoyed it. A lot. So woo hoo for me!

Casee Says:

March was a realllly slow reading month for me, too. The month started out slow when I just couldn’t decide what to read. Then I got sick and it took me over a week to read one book. The number of books I read in March is probably less than half the number I read in February. It’s really quite sad.

1. The Fortune Hunter by Jasmine Haynes
2. Show and Tell by Jasmine Haynes
3. Kill For Me by Karen Rose
4. A Perfect Darkness by Jamie Rush
5. Blood Magic by Jennifer Lyon
6. Paradise Valley by Robyn Carr
7. Maverick by Lora Leigh
8. Dead Right by Cate Noble
9. Love at First Flight by Marie Force

Yep, a total of nine books for the month of March. Pathetic, I tell you. By far, my favorite read of the month was Blood Magic. I can’t recommend this book enough. I’m ready to put March behind me and see what April brings.

*****

So, to make a not-so-great reading month a little better, we’ve decided to give away a copy of some of our favorite March reads. The books that are up for grabs are:

The Key by Lyndsay Sands
Giving Chase by Lauren Dane
Blood Magic by Jennifer Lyons
Maverick by Lora Leigh
Blue Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas

All you have to do is leave a comment by Sunday, April 5th at 11:59pm (PDT) telling us either how many books you read in March or what your favorite read in March was. Good luck!

ETA: Please let us know what book you’re interested in from the above list! Thanks!!

  2. Ladies, NOBODY sucks in March reading more than…..me.

    I only read 4.

Did you hear that baby cry? Yes, that’s how scary awful my March reading was. Hold your chins up, m’dears. I just made yall look fantastic. Qualifies me for giveaway, yes? 😀

  3. Willa

Hi Holly – number or date doesn’t matter, I am too busy looking at the titles & grades!

Must admit to being muchly curious about Blood Magic!

Haha – beat you KMont – in March I read a piddly THREE books consisting of one Meh, one O.K. and one fab – the fab one being Larissa Ione’s Passion Unleashed. Bliss.

  4. Hey all,
I updated our post, but if y’all want to be entered in the giveaway will you please let us know what book(s) you’re interested in?

    Thanks!

  5. @Molly – I was really disappointed in THTH, also. I was really expecting a great read after Kaye’s debut. To be fair, it featured a plot device I’m not big on, so the issue could be mine.

@KMont – 4? Really? Well then, I don’t feel so bad about myself anymore. heh

@Seneca – Oh, I see how observant you are. LOL

@Willa – thanks for the input!

3? That’s it? So sad! What were the other two?

  6. Willa

Oh – the book I am interested in is Blood Magic by Jennifer Lyons.

The ‘meh’ one for me was Angel’s Blood by Nalini Singh – and I feel really bad saying it, cos I think she is a wonderfully talented author and I love, love, love the Psy/Changeling world but this book sooo didn’t do it for me. Had to force myself to finish it. O.K. I lie, I skipped the last 50 pages and then read the end!

The O.K one was Linnea Sinclair’s Down Home Zombie Blues. Great worldbuilding, good humour & characters but I wanted more romance.

  7. March was a bad month for me.. I only read three books. I finally decided to read Twilight and just didn’t like it. I think it put me off reading for a while. April is already starting out much better.
I would love to read Blood Magic. I have heard such great things about it.

  8. Willa, that’s so funny. I loved Angels’ Blood, but Down Home Zombie Blues was just ‘meh’ for me. LOL

Samanthadelayed, I thought I was the only one in the world that hasn’t read Twilight.

  9. March was a pretty good reading month for me. I read 9 books (one was a short story ebook). I would say my favorite book of the month was Faefever by Karen Marie Moning.

I would love to win Blood Magic, it sounds really good!

  10. I read 4 books last month. Go me! My favorite for the month was Practice makes Perfect.

    I’m eyeballing Blue Eyed Devil.

  11. I read only a few books in March but I liked Connie Brockway’s newest historical which I think is So Enchanting the best. I would like Giving Chase by Lauren Dane or Maverick by Lora Leigh.

  12. I only read 5 books in March. My favorite was Tangled Lies by Anne Stuart.

I’d love to win a copy of Blue Eyed Devil by Lisa Kleypas.

  13. My favorite read for March was Joey W Hill’s, A Vampire’s Claim, it was so wickedly romantic, and I love this series.

Have Maverick by Lora Leigh on my wish list.

  14. I read about 25, not including some DNFs. Best by a mile was THEN COMES SEDUCTION by Mary Balogh.
Please put me down for Maverick, thanks.

  15. 22 reads for me. My favorite was Relentless by Lauren Dane.

I would love a chance to win a copy of either Maverick or Giving Chase

  16. I read around 22 or so, and reviewed 11. Not too bad, actually.

I would love to get either the Lyndsay Sands or the Lauren Dane books.

    Thank you!!!

  17. Seneca

Holly, I didn’t even notice you had the dates until you mentioned it, lol.

Wena, I had DNF Robin Schone book, too.

  18. I read a total of 19 books, but some of those were under a 100 pages each.
My fav books of March were, well I have three.
    1) Decadent by Shayla Black
    2) Colter’s Woman by Maya Banks
    3) They call me Death by Missy Jane

I think I have my eye on Giving Chase by Lauren Dane

    Thanks!

  19. I’ve read probably around 15 books this month. I discovered Brenda Joyce’s Masters of Time series and Karen Marie Moning’s Highlander series. I love them all! My favorite for the month though is Angels’ Blood by Nalini Singh. I would take any book except Blue Eyed Devil (I already have it!). Thank you!

  20. I’ve read 24 books in March. My favorite reads for the month was Larissa Ione’s Pleasure Unbound and Desire Unchained. Also love Nalini Singh’s Angel’s Blood and Lori Leigh’s Maverick.

The books I’m interested in is Giving Chase by Lauren Dane and Blood Magic by Jennifer Lyons.

  21. Jane

I read twelve books in March. My favorite was Rachel Gibson’s “Sex, Lies and Online Dating.”

I would love to win Lora Leigh’s “Maverick” or Jennifer Lyons’ “Blood Magic.”

  22. Seneca

Same here about Angel’s Blood (meh). I’m just waiting for the other girls (HINT HINT 😉 at Breezing Through to finish the review. I dying to get it posted.

  23. I read eight books in March. My favourite? Melusine by Sarah Monette. Yes, it’s (dark) fantasy not romance, but it was soooo good! Favourite romance novel? I’m with Molly – Flat-Out Sexy!

Samanthadelayed, I thought I was the only one in the world that hasn’t read Twilight.

Add me to that list, although I am slowly inching up the library hold list 🙂 I figured I would give it a go….

  24. I read 15 books in March. My favorite was Bujold’s Sharing Knife-series (I read parts 2-4).
I’m interested in The Key by Lyndsay Sands (and also Giving Chase by Lauren Dane). Sands has such funny books, I’ve read a couple of them. And I’ve been meaning to try Lauren Dane for a while.

My favourite read for March was Dirty by Megan Hart. I was surprised by how much I liked this book. I had read mixed reviews and some comments along the lines that Elle (the story is told from her perspective, in 1st person) had a flat monotone which was hard to read. Others really got it. I was in the latter category. I’m not usually a fan of the 1st person POV but this really worked for me. I loved Elle and Dan and was really rooting (no pun intended) for their HEA.

I also read Reason Enough which is a Spice Brief and kind of an epilogue. I actually read it before I read Dirty as I didn’t realise there was a relationship between the 2 books. I can honestly say that even without reading Dirty first I still really got hooked into the story. Having understood the backstory that was Dirty, the events in Reason Enough took on more significance (ie I could really appreciate how having opened herself to a relationship with Dan had allowed Elle to grow). But, either way, both stories stood on their own.

I read about 4 books a week usually, so I can’t often remember which books I read when. But, Dirty was the standout for March. It resonated with me for days after I finished it.

Please count me in for the giveaway. I’d be interested in the Lisa Kleypas book. (I may have to duck behind the couch here but I have only read 1 Kleypas book before – I can’t remember it’s title, only that it was an old one that Kleypas had reworked and which was republished under a new name. I thought it was a total wallbanger. I haven’t tried anything by her since. However, I have heard so much about her – the Smart Bitches had lightening reviews where they described some of her books as being in “the meh years” and others as being gems. I know everyone seems to be raving about her comtemporary series. I thought it might be worth giving her another go and BED seems like it would be my best bet.)

Otherwise, maybe Maverick by Lora Leigh. I’ve read all her other Tempting SEALS books.

  26. I am such a slow reader and I only read seven books in the month of March. My favorite was Blue Diablo by Ann Aguirre.

I would be interested in Blood Magic by Jennifer Lyons.

  27. I read 12 books in March.

Favorite book was The School of Essential Ingredients.

I’m really interested in Blue Eyed Devil- read great reviews for this one!

  28. Ruth

I just don’t count how many books I have read, I promise to start next January. I did read many and some of my favorites are:

Ilona Andrew’s Magic Strikes (it came out on the 31st and I devoured it in March)

Deanna Raybourn’s Silent on the Moor

    Nalini Singh’s Angel’s Blood.

I would love Lyons, Kleypas or Sands.

    Thanks for the give-away.

    Regards, Ruth

  29. My favorite read in March was Nicole Jordan’s To Romance A Charming Rogue.

I am interested in the books by Ms. Kleypas, Ms. Leigh and Ms. Lyons.

  30. Hi! I read a total of 18 books plus 2 novellas in March. Fav is hard to pick, for I liked them all. But if I had to choose I´d say it was one of the J.D. Robb´s In Death books (I started the series all over again for umpteenth time – I just love them!)…but which one…hmmm…hard to decide, but I´d say Conspiracy in Death, that´s one of my all time favs in the series. 🙂

  31. Ok I can’t even believe I’m entering but who can pass up The Key? I haven’t read it and haven’t been able to find it. 🙂

I read 34 books – that includes 6 shorts and 3 novellas. 🙂 I couldn’t possibly pick my favorite because there were a few that ranked very high.

  32. Oops, very late reporting back on which book I’d like, so hope it’s not too late. I’d take any of them as yall are so generous to do this, but picking one, I’d take Giving Chase.
