Nikol’s review of Riding on Instinct by Jaci Burton.

Department of Justice agent Shadoe Grayson is out to prove she’s no rookie, and eagerly accepts her first undercover assignment at a strip club in New Orleans. Working with the Wild Riders, a government agency of bad boy bikers, her goal is to expose a corrupt DEA agent. All she has to do is learn to strip like a pro. Standing in Shadoe’s way is arrogant and smokin’ hot Spencer King, her new partner and one of the Wild Riders. Spence thinks she looks more like a schoolteacher than a stripper, and doubts her ability to do the job. But when he mockingly challenges Shadoe to strip just for him, he finds out there’s more to the surprisingly sexy agent than by-the book rules and Government Issue pantsuits…

I damn near cried over this book. Ever since I read Riding Temptation I have became a huge Jaci Burton fan. Her writing skills is tight, I mean she write scenes that even I have to say dammnnnnnnnnnn!

Shadoe Grayson, Department of Justice rookie goes on her first undercover assignment where she will be posing as a headlining stripper at the Wild Rose in New Orleans to identify a DEA agent that’s tipping off a Colombian Cartel when the sting operation will be taking place. Shadoe was a woman that felt that she always had to prove herself to men; to let them know that she can handle hers. It all started with her Father (Fucking Asshole) a military man that never wanted a daughter…. and he wouldn’t let her forget it. Now she had to prove herself to the guys in the Wild Riders, the secret government agency… and one asshole that she would be working closely…. her partner Spencer. Damn, was she always going to have to show the guys that she was capable to taking care if herself?

Spence King worked for Wild Riders, and pretty much considered them his family. Spence was a real ladies man, he didn’t bite his tongue and he called it like he saw it. No if, ands or buts. Spence was the lead for this undercover operation and was pissed when his boss General Grange Lee introduced him to Shadoe Grayson, the DOJ rookie agent posing as headlining stripper.

Spence had a doubts about Shadoe being able to go undercover; he knew that she wasn’t going to be able to pull this off…. and he had no problem letting her and the other Wild Riders know that she looked more like a school teacher than a stripper. He constantly let her know that she wasn’t going to be able to pull this off because he wasn’t sure she even had a stripper underneath that gigantic stick up her ass but then he watched her practice and felt…something.

That something was enough to heat things right up and man was it entertaining to read all about it.

Riding on Instinct is a book that will leave you craving more. This is the 3rd book in the Wild Riders series. This book is a page turner, it was like I couldn’t read fast enough. I started this book Sunday morning and was through Sunday night. This book is loaded with the steam and I can tell you one thing, Jaci Burton sure knows how to write her way through a sex scene. Her scenes had my heart beating faster and faster as I turned the pages and she had me (more than once, I might add) with my hand on my phone, itching to call my man to come on over and try out some of these scenes.

Should you read this book? Heck yes! Should you wait? Heck no! Should you have a man handy to get your freak on with after reading this book? HECK YES! But whatever you do, read this book, it was awesome!

This book is available from Penguin. You can buy it here or here in e-format.

  1. Oh, wow, this sounds really good. I’ve seen this series around, but I never got that it was about undercover work like this. Undercover bad boy bikers. Yummy! Where the heck have I been?

This is a funny review, too.

So hey, can I start with this, or is it better to start at the beginning?

  2. Jaci Burton,

Your writing is awesome! I am a huge fan, and I appreciate your work! But there’s only one question, will there be another story in the series?

    Carolyn Jean,

I really don’t know, that’s a hard one to answer.I started with the 2nd Book ‘Riding on Temptation’ which I must say is an awesome read.

I think that you should start with the 1st book ‘Riding Wild’ then complete the Series. Trust me is worth the read!
