Forensic anthropologist Vivien Cairn fears she’s losing her mind. Her libido has kicked into overdrive, and she’s blacking out-leaving hours of her life unaccounted for and no memory of where she’s been…or what she’s done. But when a sexy stranger rescues her from a demon attack, Vivien realizes there’s more than just her sanity at stake… A seductive killer is luring victims, and Sorcerer Dain Hawkins finds himself walking a dangerous line between ancient duty and sizzling desire when the brotherhood-and Vivien herself-begin to suspect that her mysterious symptoms may connect her to the crimes. Can Dain save Vivien from the evil that threatens to claim her? Or will they both succumb to…Demon’s Hunger…

So the blurb pretty much covers the background of the story. Vivien is blacking out for hours and hours and she can’t seem to remember what she’s done or where she’s gone.

Enter Dain Hawkins who has looked up Vivien to help him explain a gris-gris bag that has bones and hair in it that he collected in New Orleans. These gris-gris bags are warded but you can feel the evil pouring off of them. Within an hour of entering Vivien’s house they are attacked by a Demon set on killing them both. Vivien’s house is torched and she has nowhere to go. Darn, guess she’ll have to stay at Dain’s.

Dain and Vivien are feeling incredibly attracted to each other physically, but they’re also feeling an emotional bond. Dain truly doesn’t want to get involved with Vivien. His human wife and daughter were slain centuries ago and Dain will not be emotionally involved with a human again. For Vivien it’s just freaky. She’s never been too interested in sex but here she is with Dain and she’s hotter than hell for him.

Throughout the story Dain and the other sorcerer’s are hot on the trail of a supernatural killer. They think it’s a succubus (a female demon) but they didn’t think there were any of those left. The problem is: they figure out that Vivien is a succubus just coming into her powers and with her blackouts she could be their culprit.

I very much enjoyed this book. I have to say that I wasn’t looking forward to reading it too much because I really didn’t care for the first book in this series, but this was worth the time spent reading. The book kept me involved in the story and thinking about who the killer was and what would eventually happen between Dain and Vivien.

  1. AL,
I didn’t even realize it wasn’t here anymore. Obviously I’m not very bright. I will add it back in.

And I fixed the link. 😉

  2. Amy – I know you like Eve Silver/Kenin – I think you’ll like this one too.

AL – isn’t Holly nice – taking care of that for you? She’s Johnny on the spot. 🙂

Ames – thanks – it was pretty darned good.

  3. I have not read many things by her, this one sounds interesting. I will keep an eye out for it. Is this the first or second in the series? If it is the second, what was the first?

  4. Hi Kris – this is the second book in the series. The first book is Demon’s Kiss. I wasn’t a fan of that particular book myself but continued with the series and I’m glad I did.
