Review: Understood by Maya Banks

Posted November 16, 2008 by Casee in Reviews | 4 Comments

Jake Turner committed the ultimate mistake of falling in love with his best friend’s wife. The distance he puts between them costs both him and Ellie Matthews dearly. Jake will never forgive himself for not seeing what a bastard his friend was. Now that Ellie is free from her nightmare, Jake waits, needing and wanting. He’ll be there when Ellie is ready to spread her wings.

Jake Turner has waited years for Ellie Matthews. Falling in love with his best friend’s wife wasn’t something that Jake ever thought could happen. Staying away from temptation proved to be one of the worst things Jake could have done. He blames himself for not knowing the hell Ellie was living. Still, Jake waits for the day that Ellie is ready to move on.

Divorcing the hometown hero hasn’t exactly endeared Ellie to the town. No one except Jake knows what really happened. Ellie is content to keep it that way. Now, two years later, Ellie is ready to move on. She doesn’t know if she’s ready for Jake, but she’s not willing to pass up the chance. What she doesn’t expect is the nightmare from her past to appear and ruin what she’s tried so hard to build.

This was a fast read that I really enjoyed. I always seem to go through phases with erotica. This book fit the bill. It’s the story of a woman that gets a chance at a love that she thought was lost to her forever. Jake and Ellie’s story was sweet, yet hot.

4.25 out of 5.

This book is available from Samhain Publishing. You can buy it here and here in e-format.
