Buy a Book, Win $100

One of the main reasons we started this book blog is because we love sharing books with other people. When we find an author or book we adore, we want others to share it with us. Throughout the years, we’ve pimped book after book, hero after hero, author after author.

Today, I’m here to pimp yet another book to you. But this time, I’m going to make it worth your while to buy it. I’m going to offer you a $100 gift certificate to the book store of your choice if you buy one book. Intrigued despite yourself? I thought you might be…

Back in January 2007, I was lucky enough to win a copy of Demon Moon by Meljean Brook on The Good, The Bad and The Unread. There had been a lot of buzz in Blogland about Meljean up to that point, but to be completely honest, I wasn’t that interested in reading her. Mostly because she was a paranormal author and because I thought Demon Angel, the first book in her Guardians Series, was set in historical times. A historical paranormal didn’t appeal to me, especially one about demons and angels and Heaven and Hell.

When I got the email that I’d won a copy of Demon Moon, I figured I might as well buy Demon Angel and read it before reading Demon Moon. I have to tell you, I didn’t love Demon Angel. I liked it well enough, but it didn’t blow me away. I honestly couldn’t understand why so many others were raving on and on about it. Sure, the world was complex and interesting, and yes, Hugh and Lilith were great characters, but the pacing was really slow for me and there was a lot going on in one book. I’m not entirely sure I would have continued on with the series if I hadn’t already won Demon Moon. Especially since I wasn’t very interested in Colin, who we met in Demon Angel.

I went into Demon Moon with pretty low expectations…and was completely blown away. Here was the WOW factor that had been missing for me in Demon Angel. I absolutely adored Colin and Savi. The pacing was cleared up and the story flowed so well I was at the end before I realized it. I laughed, I cried, I went on an emotional roller coaster ride it took me days to recover from.

Since then, each book has only gotten better. With every new book, I fall a little deeper in love with her world and characters. I can’t wait to dive into each new book…and then I try to take as much time as possible to read them so they aren’t over too quickly. If you haven’t already tried one of her books, do yourselves a favor and pick one up. If you tried one and weren’t super impressed by it, try another one. I normally wouldn’t tell you to do that, but in this case, I really don’t think you’ll regret it.

Because I firmly believe you’ll end up falling in love with Meljean and her books just as much as I did, and to help celebrate the release of Demon Bound, which is out on Tuesday, we’re going to do something we’ve never done before. We’re going to offer you the chance to win $100 if you buy Demon Bound.

Here’s how it works:

If you buy Demon Bound sometime in the next two weeks and send us proof of your purchase – either a picture of you with the book or a copy of your receipt – we’ll enter you to win a $100 gift certificate to the book store of your choice.

That’s all you have to do: Buy one book and you’ll be entered to win $100!!

If you want to double your chances of winning, announce this contest on your own website and/or blog and after you send us your proof of purchase we’ll throw your name in the hat twice.

Remember, you have until Sunday, November 15th Sunday, November 30th to enter!! Don’t delay, buy your copy today!!!
____________

If you want a chance to win Demon Bound instead of buying it, be sure to come back tomorrow. Meljean will be here to talk about Jake, the hero of Demon Bound. We’ll be giving away 3 copies!!! We’ll also have an excerpt and a review.

If you want to know more about Meljean Brook you can visit her at her website and on her blog. To learn more about The Guardians, check out The Guardian Primer.

ETA: Forgot a couple things:

1) This contest is open to all readers, including those internationally, as long as I can buy you a gift cert, either to your local bookstore (Amazon.ca, etc) or you’re ok with a US gift cert and you can have the books shipped.

2) Please email your entries to contests@thebookbinge.com. 😉

Good luck!!!

  1. This is SO COOL of you guys. I can’t think of a more deserving author. I’m not entering – I’d buy this book either way, but I wanted to say good for you!

  2. I’m in!

I have been reading Meljean’s short stories and they blow me away. I haven’t read the thicker books yet but I know I will so I’ll be buying her book for sure. Picture of book and slip will be on it’s way hopefully in the next week!

You guys rock with the contests!

    Cindys

  3. Kat,
As long as I can buy a gift cert from your book store (I’m pretty sure I can buy one online at Amazon.au) then yes, you’re eligible to enter. =)

I’ll edit the post! Thanks for reminding me.

  4. Thanks, Holly. Unfortunately, we’re too insignificant to have an Amazon of our own, but I’m sure I can buy from any online store that ships to Oz.

Look at me, in my mind, I’ve spent the $100 already. Haha. I actually took a cab to pick up my copy of Demon Bound before the store closed yesterday. Too bad I can’t call in sick to spend the day reading. 😀

  5. Wow! Great contest!

Is it bad of me to admit that I have bought the first book but I still haven’t read it yet? Not sure what I am waiting for!

  6. CINDY! You must read the goodness that is Colin! Get thee to Demon Moon!

    Sez me

I think I shall go read for a bit. Good luck to everyone that enters!

  7. I had the same reaction. Demon Angel was okay, but Demon Moon blew me away.

I still have to find time to read Demon Night, but that’s okay. I’ve bought (or pre-bought really) my copy of Demon Bound already.

Although the idea is full of all those demon bargains scares me a bit. I think that’s part of the trouble I had with Demon Angel. Oh well, I’m determined to cope.
