Under Faith Malone’s deceptively soft exterior lies a woman who knows exactly what she wants. A strong man who’ll take without asking—because she’s willing to give him everything…

Dallas cop Gray Montgomery is on a mission: find the guy who killed his partner—and bring him to justice. So far, he’s found a link between the killer and Faith—and if Gray has to get close to her to catch the killer, so be it.

Faith is sweet and feminine, everything Gray wants and desires in a woman, but he suspects she’s playing games. No way she would allow a man to call the shots in their relationship. Or would she?

Faith sees in Gray the strong, dominant man she needs, but he seems determined to keep her at a distance. So she takes matters into her own hands to prove to him it’s no game she’s playing. She’s willing to surrender to the right man. Gray would like to be that man. But catching his partner’s killer has to be his first priority. Until Faith is threatened and Gray realizes he will do anything to protect her.

This was my first Maya Banks book. I think it’s now my husband’s favorite book. He couldn’t stop looking at the cover. To give him credit, it really is a pretty hot cover. I really liked this book and immediately glommed her backlist (reviews to come).

When Gray Montgomery heads to Houston, all he wants to do is catch the man that killed his partner and best friend. At the urging of his friend’s father, Gray takes a job at a security firm so he can get close to Faith Malone. Faith’s mother was the last person seen with the man he suspects of murdering his partner and the easiest way to find her mother is to get close to her. It’s shortly after he arrives that he realizes that Faith and her mother are estranged and Faith couldn’t possibly have anything to do w/ the murder.

Faith Malone is immediately attracted to Gray and wonders if he could possibly be the man she’s been looking for. Not satisfied w/ her sex life, Faith knows that she wants something more than plain vanilla when it comes to the bedroom; she just doesn’t know how to get it. After visiting The House, a local BDSM club, Faith finally accepts that she is a sexual submissive and wants a man that can take care of her in all ways, both in and out of the bedroom.

Gray was hot. He recognized Faith for exactly what she was, but he also recognized that she was still trying to stay in control. Gray wasn’t into games and he wasn’t willing to play stud for Faith and her kinky fantasies. He made sure he told her it was all or nothing and was able to make her see that she was trying to stay in control. Gray made Faith take a long hard look at what she wanted and she was ashamed after realizing he was right. Not ashamed of what she wanted, but how she went about getting it.

I really enjoyed this book. It was more a romance, even with the “suspense” aspect. There is some m/f/m action, so if you’re not into that, this is probably not the book for you.

4.5 out of 5.

This book is available from Berkley Heat. You can buy it here or here and here in e-format.

I’ve never read anything by Ms. Banks, but as a fan of Lora Leigh and her forum I’ve seen recommendations for her books. After reading your review, I’m going to have to add her to my TBR. Thanks for the great review!

  2. I really liked this one, the m/f/m aspect of it, came as a total surprise to me. For some reason I just wasn’t expecting that little twist. (I totally forgot about her writing Coulter’s Woman.)

If you read any of Banks’ backlist make sure to read Stay With Me. Its another m/f/m story, but it takes place after their HEA. Its all about what it takes to keep their relationship together. I think its some of Banks’ best work. I’m really looking forward to her next release Be With Me. I think that one is m/m/f/m. 🙂
