Hero: Sean “Tag” Taggert
Heroine: Cassie Tremaine Montgomery
Grade: 4.5 out of 5

The small town of Pleasantville, Ohio judges the Tremaine family harshly as bastards and tramps — deservedly so for every Tremaine except Cassie Tremaine Montgomery. So the boulder on Cassie’s shoulder is certainly understandable. After all, she has had it proven, from high school forward, that all men can be turned to slaves by their penises. Ten years after her departure, Cassie returns to Pleasantville to settle old scores while tending to business.

Sheriff Sean Taggart does not hesitate to issue two tickets in two days to the famous lingerie model. Cassie immediately dismisses the sexy cop; after all, a cop uniform and sheriff’s badge could never interest her. Tag likewise does not believe he could fall for this tempting goddess. He believes that he is done with trouble and high maintenance. But then the taste of her reminds him of forbidden passion, and the “promise of head-banging, toe-curling sex,” and Tag surely finds out how much he does want this anti-authority woman.

I was talking to Izzy yesterday and I told her that I found the next author that I’m going to glom.

Jill Shalvis.

I wanted something really quick to read last night before I went to bed so I picked up one of Jill’s older books and I read it all within a few hours and man, that was a sexy few hours. This book is about Cassie Tremaine and Sean “Tag Taggert. Cassie comes from a family of women who are known around town as being women of loose morals. Cassie has been plagued with unwanted attention because of her Mothers extra curricular activities and it didn’t help matters that she was a total knock out. Long blonde hair, legs that won’t quit, Cassie had it going on and she was counting the days when she would leave Pleasantville and make something of herself. She’s got a lot of resentment toward the people of Pleasantville and it’s understandable knowing the way that they treated her because of her last name.

What I really enjoyed about this book was the interaction between Tag and Cassie. They were so hot together. They literally lit the story on the fire. Tag was one hot stud of a hero, I really liked his character. He didn’t get along with his father, he was his own man with his own code of honor and he didn’t follow along to anyone’s tune, he sang his own song and I totally loved that about him.

Cassie had that tough girl attitude that probably would have gotten on my nerves if this book was a bit longer but the length of this book saved her. She comes back to town to settle some business and to hide away from her stalker, she’s keeping a low profile though you wouldn’t be able to tell by all the tickets she was getting in the first couple of days back in Pleasantville. I really liked the way that her character grew over the course of this book, it was pretty amazing that Jill made Cassie’s character evolve in such a short story and pulled it off fantastically.

I mean, Cassie had issues with men in uniform and Tag was a man in uniform and yet the chemistry between them was so strong that they couldn’t help but fall for each other. Tag had a picture of the perfect woman, the perfect wife in his head but who did he fall for? The high maintenance lingerie model who was the exact opposite of what he thought he wanted…but did that stop them from steaming up the pages of this book? Heck to the no. I thought Jill Shalvis did a great job of making me fall in love with this storyline and the characters. It was a short but enjoyable read and I’m looking forward to reading Cassie’s cousin, Kate’s story.

Bring on the romance, kudo’s to Jill Shalvis for a great story.

This book is available from Harlequin Blaze. You can buy it here.
