So, what’s your genre?
Hi, my name is Yolanda Sfetsos and I love to read and write different genres. I like a good mystery, as well as a hauntingly scary tale, with a good dose of romance and a whole lot of paranormal. Yeah, I enjoy reading/writing in these separate genres, but if I had to pick one to be my favorite, do you know which one it would be?
It’s perfect for someone like me, because it pretty much has a bit of everything I mentioned above. You can’t go wrong with kick-butt heroines, brave and lovable heroes, magic, vampires, werewolves, etc. And with the amount of choices out there nowadays, it’s fantastic! But what grabs me as a writer the most is that I can make up worlds that exist beside ours. Sometimes they’re kept secret, while other times an alternate history exists and the world is a little different to what we’re used to.
I have to blame the early Anita Blake books and Buffy the Vampire Slayer for being my first influences in this awesome genre, I’m just glad it’s kicking butt at the moment.
I live in Sydney, Australia so the majority of my short stories/novellas/novels are set in Sydney or in the suburbs. It’s great to set it somewhere that I can literally go and walk around. I’ve dragged my husband, daughter and a camera around the city plenty of times. It can be a lot of fun, and it’s amazing how many times I notice something different in a place I’ve visited before. Not to mention that going to the actual setting of a story can also spark a whole new things in my head.
I like to call the stories I write Otherworldly Tales because it’s the best way to sum them up. 🙂
Oh, and because I’ve been talking about myself and what I like, I want to giveaway one of my eBooks to one random person. If you leave a comment letting me know which genre you adore, the person who wins can pick any one of my currently available eBooks.
Thanks so much to Book Binge for having me here today and to you for reading!
