What I’ve Been Reading This Week

Hey Kids! How’s it hangin??? Did you have a good week? I hope so!

My week was very quiet as the kids were at my parents all week and John didn’t get home until Friday…but they’re all home now which is wonderful!

School starts for my kids next week…WTF?!!! lol Seriously how did that happen? I just can’t get used to this only 2 months off in the summer thing. They’re looking forward to it, I’m the one who’s not. haha

I also realized that RAW is only about 6 weeks away! My goal was to read at least 1 book by each author – totally easier said than done. Truly. I read a lot, this should be no problem. I just haven’t been motivated for some reason so I’m trying to jump further into that bandwagon.

Ok then started my week off with Breaking Dawn by Stephenie Meyer which I liked…thoughts below. As I said in that post, I think I’m in the minority but, whatever. 🙂

Trying to read my RAW authors I read a short novel (novella) by Sylvia Day, Misled. It’s about vampires in outer space. Whodathunk? Really. It was ok – lots of sex.

Next was another RAW author, Dawn Ryder. She also writes under Mary Wine who I like. Strangely enough, both of them will be at RAW! lol Anyway, this one was Hawk’s Prey. Another sci-fi book about a girl who moves with her brother and father to a penal colony even though she’s an innocent because she doesn’t want to be alone and shunned. Wow – big move. She meets up with a Hunter, Hawk, who is more a less a guard. They hit it off, sex ensues. However, Hawk is “linked” with his partner so then you’ve got the old menage goin’, even though her feelings are for Hawk. This sounds strangely weird, but it was actually strangely intriguing. I think I might be reading more in the series…not sure yet.

Next up, on the advice of Lisabea, I read Samantha Kane’s At Love’s Command. Samantha just won a Passionate Plume award for best historical erotic romance, 2007. Congrats Samantha! At Love’s Command is a m/m/f romance and it was wonderful. I loved this book and now want to go back and read all of Samantha’s Brothers In Arms series. Wonderful story, wonderful. Very, very sexy book.

Ended my week with Acheron by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I have to thank Kat for turning me on to the Dark-Hunter series. So dang good. I was very much looking forward to Acheron to learn all about his past, what makes him tick, how the hell he was gonna get away from Artemis and who was gonna be the love of his life. All of my questions were answered and it was a fabulous, fabulous book. Wonderful. Grade A+

Happy Reading!

  1. Mmmm…love me some Acheron. 🙂

I freaked some people out by putting my blog on private. It was just for a few hours. I was working on a blog project, but it kept screwing up my settings. I put it on private so no one could see what was happening.

Now, however, it’s back up, so here’s hoping it’ll stick! Yay!

  2. You still read a ton of books! BREAKING DAWN and ACHERON are like 5 books put together! 😉

I’m still reading BREAKING DAWN. Had a ton to do this weekend for construction prep so I barely read. Hope to finish it in a day or two.

I’m excited I’ve heard nothing but great things about ACHERON! 🙂

I can’t believe your kids go back to school next week already!! That’s depressing! Mine have till Sept. 4, which is really right around the corner, too.

  3. Acheron is just fabulous! It was so hard to read the first part cuz it was breaking my heart but it’s so good!!!

BL – I’ll have to go check out the blog!

Christine – I can’t believe my kids go back either! When I was in school, right after the earth cooled, we always went back the day after Labor Day. They call this a “blended” schedule so they get more time off during the year. huh.

  4. Dang, dang, dang and dang. Nothing I got nothing I didn’t finish one damn book all week. *hangs head*

On the bright side it looks like you got in some good reading.

  5. Wow Sarai…I don’t think I’ve ever heard you say that! lol So sorry you didn’t get to read – hopefully you will soon. 🙂

  6. I am back on my historical romance kick again. Breaking Dawn was the book that shoud have shocked me speechless. Now that I think of it, it did but not in good ways. 😛

  7. I agree, Acheron was amazing. I had read some pre-reviews that said the first 400 pages were unnecessary so I was a little nervous, but I was so sucked in, I didn’t finish til about 1 am (last night/this am) I can’t imagine not reading the first part b/c it explained EVERYTHING. My heart ached for him 🙁

  8. I reeeeeally want some Acheron spoilers. *hint hint*

My reading has been slacking off lately. *sigh*

So busy fighting the Fishwarz and all, you know. LOL

  9. KB – back on your historical kick, huh? I just try to mix them in with all the others so I don’t forget the genre altogether! 🙂

Katie – Acheron was sooo amazing! I’m so glad you liked it. I didn’t think the first 400 pages were unnecessary at all. I can’t imagine anyone who’s read the series and truly loved it would feel that way (but that’s me). After having so many unknowns about Ash throughout the series it was wonderful to see who he really was inside.

Oh Jenb…If you’re a Dark-Hunter fan then you don’t want no stinkin spoilers! lol Just read! Ok – here’s one…Ash finds true love. LOL Not what you were hoping for, I’m sure!

  10. I loved Acheron!!!

All those doubters out there can go bite the big one…cuz I thought it so rocked!

    Worth all the hype!

  11. Dude! Seriously…that was a lot of books. I know you were glad to get everyone home (first day of school pics were darling btw) but don’t ya love being home by yourself sometimes? I do…just a little bit, for a little while it’s nice.

  12. ddo3 – I’m totally with you on that! Seriously loved it. I’m on a board and there are some woman who thought it took the easy way out and left too many holes – I’m not one of them. I really, really loved it. As big as it is I will definitely re-read.

Rosie!!!! How the heck are ya?? Yes I DO love being home by myself, for a while. After almost 2 full weeks I was ready for everyone to be home!

  13. I’m glad you liked At Love’s Command! And I’m sooooo glad to hear that Acheron is wonderful! I had to finish a book, just did, and this is my present to myself. I love the Dark Hunters.
