LUCKY…IN LOVE?

An unlikely state of affairs. For Navy SEAL Lucky O’Donlon was the original love-’em-and-leave-’em guy. Used to women swooning at his feet. So how could it be that the adorably quick-witted and frustratingly attractive journalist Sydney Jameson seemingly had nothing to offer him…but one very cold shoulder?

Well, two could play at this game. But first things first — he and Sydney had a job to do. They had to get their man.

Then there would be time enough for him to get his woman….

Before I get into the review for this book, let me talk about this cover:

What in bleeping hell is that? I don’t know who the hell that is but that is NOT Luke “Lucky” O’Donlon. Atleast not the Lucky I’ve come to know in these books, I couldn’t stop laughing when I saw this cover because it’s just too funny to piece that man on that cover with the sheer perfection that is Lucky O’Donlon. But hey, whatever…I also had a good laugh that Suz thought exactly the same thing that I was thinking when I saw that cover. I can’t get over it but I should so I’m gonna try.

LOL.

Now on to my review….this book was great! So frickin’ great that I read it twice before moving on. Lucky was a dreamboat in the other books and in this book as well. He’s funny, smart, sexy as all get out and just fanfrickin’tastic! He’s a great leader and he’s a fair one as well. He was an outstanding hero and I totally fell for him.

It’s really hard to pick a favorite SEAL in this series because they’ve all got qualities that I love in a man. I love different things about every one of them and I enjoy the hell out of each and every book that I’ve read in this series so far. What I loved most about Lucky was that he saw what was beneath everything with Sydney. He didn’t fall for her looks, he fell for the woman that she was. They were friends and then they were more than friends and no matter what she was wearing or what she was doing, he cared.

The way he was with Sydney was a delight to read about. The love and care he showed and the way he worried over her made me all gooey inside because he was such the perfect romance hero.

Syd was a great heroine as well. She wasn’t dumb, she knew what the score was where Lucky was concerned. She knew that odds were, he’d never see her as girlfriend or wifey material but when things shifted, she didn’t shy away from her feelings. She embraced them and she risked her heart, knowing that he just might break it and hoping that he didn’t. Her faith in Lucky made this book enjoyable and I loved the storyline, even though I read the exact same storyline a few books before in Jake and Zoe’s book.

I enjoyed seeing the wifes of all of the SEALs get together and be there for each other. I love that Suz writes her happy endings and though things are still peachy between the heroes and heroines of the previous books, their lives don’t stop being unpredictable just because they got their happily ever after. Bad things still happen and nobody is invincible so with all the twists thrown at us made for a really enjoyable read.

This book had it all, a good romance, great characters and a taste of more to come. What more could you ask for in a romance novel? Not much, because as much as I loved Lucky and Sydney, I can’t wait to read more about Bobby but more than that, I really, really want to read more about Wes Skelly, bring on the Wes please!!

This book is great, you should definitely read it because Suz seriously rocks my socks with these stories and I’m sure she’ll rocks yours too.

This book is available from Mira Books. You can buy it here.

  1. I’ve only read her Troubleshooters – and I’m not through the series yet! But I’m looking forward to her other works too. This sounds great.

Knowing SB’s character portrayals I can’t imagine that the guy on the cover of that book would look anything like something she’d described!! That’s awful! lol

Funny, I was on SB site last night and saw her comment about this book cover. Good thing I don’t pay attention to covers much…lol

  3. I can’t wait to read this one! Lucky’s was the story I was most looking forward to reading in this series!

I won a copy of it at the last Suz signing last summer. Still haven’t read it yet…le-sigh.

I haven’t gotten a chance to pick up the new troubleshooters yet either. But I can’t wait for some more IZZY!!!!! 😉

  4. I read this when it first came out, and I recall the author was offering to send out smilie face stickers for readers to place on the cover–over Lucky’s face : )

    Tracy,

This is one fantastic author. You can’t go wrong with her. What book are you at right now? I so love the Troubleshooters series but I equally love the Team 10 guys as well, they’re not as long as the Troubleshooter books but they pack a good punch still, so good!

    Tabitha,

I am glad that I have this book in e-format so I don’t have to see that hideous cover on my e reader, but still Lucky is a dreamboat!

    Mollie,

You must read this book, it’s too cute! And I’m just about done with ITF and have got to say that I love it!

    Robin,

LOL, oh I would be buying those smiley face stickers myself to cover up Lucky’s face too…=)

  6. The cover is hilarious mainly because there is no way a guy that size could ever be a SEAL. Heck, he couldn’t even be in the active military if he’s overweight.

Thanks for the review, makes me want to jump into this series.

  7. Yo!

You finally got around to this series by SB, huh? Hahaha! See? I was gone for far too long that I feel like I can no longer connect with the rest of you, peeps. But as long as you’re still loving these hot Navy Seals, I guess I’m still!!!

    Miss you lots!
