Hero: Carter “Blue” McCoy
Heroine: Lucy Tait
Grade: 4.75 out of 5

Blue McCoy was once the hero of Lucy Tait’s teenaged dreams — quiet, dart and dangerous. After high school he left Hatboro Creek, South Carolina, to join the military. Years later, now a Navy Seal, Blue was a man who embodied all of Lucy’s fantasies.

Now Blue is back in town, and Lucy is not the person he remembered. She’s a no-nonsense police officer — and a woman Blue can’t take his eyes off. But then Blue is accused of murder. And Lucy is assigned his case. Now their brief affair has became part of an extensive investigation, where what’s at stake is critical — Blue’s future . . . and maybe Lucy’s heart.

Two down, a whole lot of SEALs to get to know and man am I excited. I read this book a long time ago, it was the only Team 10 book that I could find at the bookstore out here in my town so I read it because I couldn’t help myself and I really, really loved Blue back then. After having read it this time around, I love it even more then I remember.

Blue is one of those heroes that just never gives up. He just doesn’t know how to and I love that about him. The way he came back home, after being away all this time to attend the wedding of his step brother and his high school sweetheart made me feel bad for him, even though I knew that his feelings for Jenny Lee Beaumont were completely done. He came back home, to a small town, where he knew that the tongues were gonna wag because he wanted to be there for his brother.

I loved reading about his friendship with Joe Cat. I read about it in Joe’s book and it was in there that their friendship was shown to me, the way that I knew it would be but in this book, we get to see Blue having to deal with a very big problem on his own without his team there to help him out. As much as I love seeing the entire team fighting TOGETHER to bring the bad guys down, it does make me feel good when I get to see each soldier fighting his own battles and coming out on top. I love watching the entire team together though, I loved how when Lucy finally got in contact with Joe and the guys, they didn’t even stop to think about how they just got back from a long training and wanted nothing better than to lose themselves in sleep, their wives, etc…they were needed by one of them and they didn’t hesitate to help.

This is my most favorite part of the whole SEAL thing. The brotherhood that is just so …real.

Then there’s Lucy. Little Lucy Tait.

Gosh, what a fantastic heroine. I could totally tell why Blue fell for her. She was so refreshingly different from the other heroines that I’ve read in the past few months, all feminine and girly. Lucy was the complete opposite of that but she was still a fanfrickintastic heroine to Blue.

This was one of those high school crushes turned into true love at the end storylines and as always, I fell like a rock for it. Lucy has had a big crush on Blue for as long as she could remember and then he went away to become a Navy SEAL and she never saw him again. Until he came back to town for his step brother’s wedding to his high school sweetheart and girly girl princess Jenny Lee. Everyone thinks that Blue is going to come back and try to break up the wedding, everyone including Lucy but Lucy has been giving the green light for a hot affair with Blue and not being the smart girl that she is, she jumps on it.

Until she sees him dancing with Jenny Lee and her engagement party, you know the engagement between her and his step brother, Gerry?

Yeah, that one.

So because that’s a big buzz kill, Lucy decides that maybe it’s not a good idea after all..the hot affair with her hero and crush, Blue McCoy. Then events happen which make it impossible for Lucy to play out all of her wild fantasies with Blue, but those same events keep Blue in town a lot longer than she thought he’d be in town for and she gets to know him. He gets to know her. And together, they try to figure out the puzzle that is his life and try to clear his name.

I loved reading this book, it was so much fun watching Blue and Lucy fall in love and watching them make mistakes and then getting up and trying again. I loved the unconditional love Lucy had for Blue, she knew that he thought the worst in her but she didn’t let that get in the way of her feelings for him and for what was right. She didn’t lose faith in him and she fought for him. Literally, fought for her man.

You just gotta admire that in a woman.

I admired Lucy a lot and I thought Blue was a great guy in Joe’s book and proved to be an exceptional hero in his own book. I loved his sandals that he wore with everything, even at his wedding and I loved that he loved Lucy, exactly the way she was…white cotton panties and all. They were perfect together and were enjoyable to read.

I heart this book and cannot wait to read more from this series. Read this book, seriously, it’s good!

  1. Awww crap. Crap, crap, crap! Now I’m going to HAVE to move these up on my list. The list is SO LONG the only way I’ll be able to catch up is if there are no more books printed for say, six months–and that ain’t gonna happen. You just had to go on a Brockmann bender when I was starting the historicals, didn’t you? LOL!!

I’m so glad you like these, Rowena. Now I’ll be trying them out too! 🙂

  2. Lori

LOLOLOL!!!!! Yesiree Bob! Thanks for your help in converting Anne to the historicals AND the Brockmanns! *jumping with glee*

I love this series – it totally rocks! You are benefitting from the re-release of all these titles. Enjoy them – they rock!
