What’s your kind of hero?

When I was sixteen, I spent the summer in Palm Springs with my aunt. She taught me how to drive a five speed that year and let me go just about where ever I wanted. There was only one small problem…it was a 1982 VW Rabbit that was prone to overheating and not starting. In the middle of the summer, the weather gets hot in Palm Springs (to put it mildly). Needless to say, as a new driver of a five speed, I stalled it plenty of times. It was one of those times (in a parking lot) that two Firefighters came to my rescue. They’re pushing the car up and back in the parking lot and I’m trying to pop the clutch. Oops, the key wasn’t turned to “On”. They may have laughed a little, but they didn’t make me feel like the dumb blonde I no doubt felt like. Thus began my obsession love affair w/ firefighters. I love firefighters. I love firefighter heroes. I think part of it is that they’re already heroes.

So what kind of heroes do you like? Do you like a military man? A man in uniform?

  1. So, I have decided that it sucks that the majority of the BookBingers are on the West Coast b/c my work day is almost over when you guys start posting. I’m getting addicted Casee and its all your fault!

To answer your question, the heroes that attract me the most are the ones that exude strength. Not necessarily physical strength but those that are committed to their jobs, whether that be a professor who loves his research or the more aggressive alpha male types. If I had to choose though a good CIA agent type is sure to please.

  2. Me – I love a blue collar hero – a cop, a firefighter, a construction business owner who started from the ground up. I think the big exception to that is Roarke of the In Death books – but even he didn’t start out as the suave and debonair guy he mostly is now – I love him most when he’s showing his roots *g*

  3. Kristie,
I’m so with you on Roarke. Boardroom billionaire Roarke doesn’t appeal to me as much as Bloody Hell cursing Roarke does. YUM!

  4. Okay so you guys know I work at a fire dept right? Well one of the things that endears them to me is their humor. They always seem to have some gag or practical joke going on. Also, at least in our department, they don’t stay single long.

  5. Rowena

Gabriela, haha…Holly and I are in California and Casee’s in Idaho. haha.

My favorite heroes are the military men or cops. I don’t think I’ve read a romance with a firefighter as the hero but I do want to start…which do you recommend Casee?
