Kris‘ guest review of Hunter’s Prey by Kit Tunstall.

Armand Touissant: A master vampire whose sister was killed by the Necro sapiens Containment Agency. He thinks the NCA’s mission is genoicidal.
Foster St. Claire: A master vampire who shares Armand’s hatred of the NCA, though he lacks a personal stake.
Shaun O’Grady: An NCA Agent trained to exterminate vampires.

On her first mission, Shaun freezes and winds up the captive of Armand Toussaint and Foster St. Claire. She’s afraid of dying, but they find they want something completely different—her total surrender to the sensual pleasures offered by the two of them. Duty conflicts with desire, and everything she believes might just be a lie.
In the master vampires’ arms, she can’t tell who is the hunter, and who is the prey.

I did something with this book that I do not do very often. I started and read it without having read the blurb or anything about it. I went off of the fact that it was a vampire book and a menage. I read one of Ms Tunstall’s stories in the What Happens in Vegas anthology and wanted to read more by her.

I do not think that the story was set up well. I guess so far I would say that the sex scenes are very good but the storyline is weak because the story was not set up well in the beginning or even later in the story. And the entire book I did not connect with the heroine. I think I knew more about the heroes than I did about her. All I knew about her was that she had trained for 6 years to become an Agent because she felt it was her duty. It was mentioned once and that was about it. As you read you get the back stories of the two vamps and that was really interesting but I never really got a chance to connect with the heroine at all.

The story was short and I felt need to be longer to fill in more of the story.

I have to give this book:

2 out of 5

This book is available from Loose ID. You can buy it here in e-format.

  1. You know, I hadn’t even heard of Ms Tunstall until I got a copy of What Happens in Vegas… and have to say that her story there is the one I gave the lowest grade to. I wasn’t feeling inclined to seek out anything more by her anyway, but this review clinched it for me.

  2. Rowena

This doesn’t sound like something I’d want to read…but hey thanks for the heads up, sorry you didn’t enjoy it more. =)

  3. I am sorry you didn’t enjoy this more. If you would like to try another one of my books, I’d be happy to supply it for you in exchange for a review.

I’m glad you liked the novella in WHIV well enough to look for something else from me. It’s had mixed reviews, to say the least. I’m not defending it, but I would like to say that the book was originally novel-length and had to be trimmed to 27,000 words for Harlequin. It was so difficult to cut out almost half the story and keep it even a shadow of what it was. *sigh*

Anyway, please let me know if you would like to review anything else. If you read non-erotic romance, I’d love to send you BELOVED FOREVER. It’s my favorite book I’ve written, and pretty much the unloved stepchild of my works. LOL.

    Thanks for the review.

    Sincerely,
    Kit Tunstall

P.S. I’m sure you’re all aware that authors have very little to do with the final covers. 😉

  4. Well, now i know why I felt it needed to be longer, it was supposed to be much longer.
I would love to read more by you, thank you for the offer.

  5. The erectile dysfunction drug viagra that is easily available via http://www.viagracare.com viagra online is well known as an effective medicine to curb impotency throughout the world. Further, to add on to the efficacy of Viagra, it recently became evident that cheap viagra had revolutionized the sex lives of the elderly and as such you can also take advantage of the beneficial effects of Viagra against impotency if you are in the grip of erectile dysfunction. The moment you buy Viagra online and administer the medicine to your system, Viagra would get instantly mixed into your system and help you trigger off solid erections necessary for sexual intercourse. When you are looking forward to buy viagra from the internet, always procure the medicine from an authentic online source.
