Which is probably why Marcee Robbens found herself in the arms of a sexy stranger before the bouquet was even tossed at her best friend's wedding. And after a night of hot caresses and knee-weakening kisses in handsome Sam McKelvey's arms, even happily single Marcee is humming the wedding march. So when the sun comes up and Sam hits the road, the usually tough-as-nails beauty finds herself nursing a tender heart. . . .

Sam's not the kind of guy who would have a super-hot hook-up with a woman he barely knows. But something about Marcee had him mesmerized—enough for this usually sensible single dad to abandon his responsibilities for one unforgettable night. But Sam never thought his one night stand would turn up as his new next-door neighbor. Or that once he glimpsed the soft side of this captivating woman, he'd find himself falling in love...

Okay, this book was absolutely great! One Night Stand by Cindy Kirk was a page turner, I couldn’t put the book down…I was so excited about what was going to happen next. It was the perfect book to read while on your lunch and during your breaks at work. I ate this book up.

Marcee Robbens is a 32 year old CPA for D&D. She lives in Chicago and believes that men are only good for one thing, sex. She was a firm believer that all men are dogs and so she just wasn’t the marrying type. She was all about the one night stands. Hit it then quit it, that’s what she was about.

And then she met Sam McKelvey, a detective for the Chicago PD. Sam is a single father who is trying to get over the pain of losing his wife. He’s got a 17 year old daughter, a daughter that was born when he was quite young and he’s doing all that he can to be there for her, especially now since he wants to spend as much time with her before she leaves him to go off to college.

Sam and Marcee meet at Marcee’s best friend’s wedding. Jenny’s (Marcee’s best friend) little sister and Fern (Sam’s daughter) are best friends. Sam and Marcee hook it up and as all couples do when they start falling for each other, they can’t stop thinking about each other. Sam’s not looking for a relationship and neither is Marcee, or so she thought. After a night of hot sex, Sam tells Marcee that he’s not looking for a relationship but he gives her his number and tells her that she should keep in touch. Marcee is all butt hurt because she should be happy that he doesn’t want a relationship, only she’s not really happy…she’s kinda hurt.

So anyway, when Sam moves to a small town in an effort to spend more time with Fern, Marcee moves to that same small town to take her younger brother under her care. Imagine Marcee and Sam’s surprise when they meet up with each other after their night of carnal delights!

The journey these two go through to get to their happy ending is a journey filled with lots of laughs, lots of steamy sex and swoonworthy moments. I enjoyed getting to know the characters and I thought that both Marcee and Sam were great main characters. There were times when I wanted to throttle Marcee for certain things and then there were times that I wanted to karate chop Sam in the knee caps for being so clueless about that Paula chick and Marcee’s feelings but aside from that, I don’t have too much to gripe about….the book was great entertainment and you guys should definitely read this story if you guys are looking for a fun and sexy romp of a book, it’s great for a good laugh and a great storyline.

Definitely pimp worthy.

  1. Rowena,

Happy to hear you liked the book! One Night Stand picks up where my first book for Harper Collins, When She Was Bad, left off.

Marcee was a secondary character in that book and I liked her so much, I simply had to give her a story of her own.

I’m not sure if this is permissible but I’d like to give away an autographed copy of When She Was Bad to the first five people who comment on this post.

All they have to do is post and if they’re one of the first five, send an email to me through my website http://www.cindykirk.com and I’ll put the book in the mail!

  2. I haven’t read this one or When She Was Bad but both sound great so I have to add it to my TBB list.
