A Letter to My Fiance

Dear MM,

I’m so terribly, terribly sorry. I feel so ashamed of myself. I know we’ve discussed this in years past, and came to an agreement that was mutually beneficial (well, I think still think it was more to your benefit than mine) but I just couldn’t help myself. I tried to be strong. Really I did. But it was so hard!

Yes, I did it. I bought 5 books and only paid for four. Yes, I know we agreed I wouldn’t buy anymore books this month, especially with the wedding coming up so soon, but really, it wasn’t my fault.

It’s all Borders fault. Those bastards.

No, really. I never would have bought them if they hadn’t been sneaky and underhanded, and been “exploiting” my “frailty at a time of emotional weakness.”

See, I told you, it’s all their fault.

Jane said so. You believe her, don’t you?

I promise to try and restrain myself better next time. But, I can’t make any promises. After all, we’ll have been married almost a full year by the time next Valentines Day rolls around. And I’m sure I’ll be feeling ever more “emotionally weak” by then.

Forgive me?

Love,

Your weak Fiance

P.S. I’m sure you’re disappointed in me, but if you’d like, you’re more than welcome to “exploit” my emotional distress further by visiting the store. 5 for 4 is a great deal, no?

  1. Dang now I need to write my hubby a letter like that. Except I have done it on Amazon where it’s buy 4 get one free… poor guy

Ditto what Chantal said. Although, I’m trying to be good. I’m trying not to buy anything for awhile and hopefully get rid of some of my TBR pile.

  3. Uh, I never admit when I’ve been bad. Books just show up! I have explained to Bob that it must be a book fairy who thinks I’m just extra special.

And I’m probably the only person on the planet who think Valentine’s Day can go blow. Me hates it.

  4. Oh, you aren’t the only one Cindy. I HATE V-Day with a passion. Well, unless if I can use it as an excuse to buy books, that is. LOL

Even MM knows I hate V-Day. We don’t celebrate it and I don’t buy into it at all. MM thinks I’m weird, but he indulges me. Last year he bought me a St. Patrick’s Day card in place of a V-Day card. Isn’t he cute?

  5. Chart which, Meljean? My weakness or the great deals? Or both?!?

    HA!

    Sarai,

I think Borders is a better deal strictly because it’s all romance, all the time. Amazon has a mix, right?

  6. I am a Borders “Ho”. They can exploit me all they want with their evil buy 4 get 10 books free. How dare they try to enable my addiction and let me save money also.
And the fact they have those yummy frozen coffee drinks I like and the cutest boys who work behind the counter! The shame, the horror.

I was there twice on Tuesday and again there on Wednesday *G*

I came home hanging my head in shame yesterday and had almost this exact conversation, too. Damn them! And they send me the email, so I don’t even have to go into the store looking to see if they’re having a sale, either!

    BUT, I got 5 new books – Woo-freakin-hoo!

  8. Oh, I am feeling so unsatisfied and lonely and sorry for myself this Valentines month. Where is my fantasy lover? There’s no hope. I am going to kill myself.
    Wait! Borders?

    ***sob sniff***

    Sale on romance?

    **sniff**

Look! The men on these book covers know how to love!

    **sniff**

    Where’s my credit card?

  9. Ana

LOL. We should probably come up with a letter template for your significant others for such moments. It would be so much easier.

Borders in the UK never have such deals with romance. Oh, the nerve.
