Best of 2007: The Books

Posted January 2, 2008 by Holly in Features | 5 Comments

As with all things, our Best of lists must come to an end. After much deliberation, aruging and bantering back and forth, we’ve finally made our lists of our best reads of 2007.

It’s been a good reading year for all of us here at Book Binge. We read some great new favorites, some wonderful old ones and saw some great new entries from favorite authors.

Isabel’s List:

Lord or Scoundrels by loretta chase
Virgin river by Robyn Carr
Broken by Megan Hart
Dirty by Megan Hart
Sleepless at midnight by Jaquie D’Alessandro
Twilight by Stephanie Meyer
Harry potter and the deathly hallows by j k rowling.

Wena’s List
:

1. Twilight by Stephenie Meyer.
2. Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase.
3. The whole Virgin River series (is that cheating?) by Robyn Carr.
4. Magic Study by Maria V. Snyder.
5. Sugar Daddy by Lisa Kleypas.

Honorable Mentions go to: Crazy Cool by Tara Janzen, Mine Til Midnight by Lisa Kleypas, Anyone but You by Jennifer Crusie and New Moon by Stephenie Meyer…oh and Every Breath You Take by Judith McNaught, love that book too.

My absolute favorite read of this year goes to Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase because it had the right amount of everything and it’s one of the few stories where I loved the hero, the heroine, the secondary characters and just…everything, it had the right amount of laughs, the right amount of sad stuff and good things all mixed into it to make it the best read of 2007…for me. I effing love that book….I think a tad bit more than Twilight, even though that book comes in really, really, really close to LOS.

Casee’s List
:

1. Caressed by Ice by Nalini Singh
2. Virgin River by Robyn Carr
3. On a Highland Shore by Kathleen Givens (I just finished this yesterday and OMG, it was awesome)
4. My Steadfast Heart by Jo Goodman
5. Games of Command by Linnea Sinclair

Holly’s List:

1) Caressed by Ice by Nalini Singh
2) Virgin River by Robyn Carr
3) The Serpent Prince by Elizabeth Hoyt
4) If His Kiss is Wicked by Jo Goodman
5) Innocent in Death by J.D. Robb
6) Magic Study by Maria V. Snyder
7) The Last Days of Summer by Steve Kluger
8) Lord of Scoundrels by Loretta Chase
9) Demon Moon by Meljean Brook
10) Wanna Play by Gail Faulkner

I know there are others that we truly enjoyed, but we tried to keep our lists at a manageable level. What about the rest of you? What were your best reads? Something that was published this year? Something that you just read for the first time, even though it was published ages ago? Something that you’ve read a hundred times but it still tops your list?

Edited to change the title of my favorite In Death book for the year. Though I enjoyed Born in Death, as Nath pointed out in the comments, it was Innocent I liked best. 🙂

  1. Great choices. “Broken” and “Lord of Scoundrels” were definitely on my list for 2007. I also re-read the Black Jewels trilogy by Anne Bishop, which I love.

  2. I’m going to do my best books of the year list today LOL, I’m so behind in everything. everything 🙁

Holly – Born in Death? Really? don’t you mean, Innocent in Death? I thought Innocent was better than Born…

  3. Rowena

    Stacy,

LOS is my most favorite read EVER, so far…I just love me some Sebastian!

    Nath,

I read you and Ames reading lists and I thought it was too cute!

  4. Chantal

Holly, I knew you would have CBY on there, lol

    Great lists, gals.

I was only doing books published in ’07, or else I would have put Lord of scoundrels, too.
