Chicago socialite Amanda Delmar thought spending the summer in Cuttersville-Ohio's most haunted town-would be a hoot, until dear old-Dad cut her off. Now Amanda has to do the unthinkable and get... A JOB. Her attempts at joining the job market would crack up farmer Danny Tucker, if he weren't so turned on by the skinny, bronzed blonde. Hiring Amanda to babysit his baby girl may not be the smartest thing Danny has ever done. But seeing how she and her couture-clad poodle bring a smile to his shy daughter's face makes it all worthwhile. Now all Danny has to figure out is how to keep Amanda at arm's length, when she has already wriggled her way into his heart.

I got this book awhile ago and from who, I can’t remember it was either Holly or the girls from our So Cal Meet Up…but whoever it was who gave me this book, THANK YOU! I really enjoyed this read, it was light, funny and extremely cute. After I finished the book, I was smiling and sighing and just content with the whole thing. Amanda and Dan were such a cute couple and they complimented each other extremely well. I enjoyed every aspect of this book from the ghost that’s living in Amanda’s house and the pennies she left for a penniless Amanda to the new daughter Dan didn’t know he had to Amanda bonding with Dan’s new little bundle of joy, Piper…everything was just great. The characters were wonderful, the storyline flowed magically and the whole she bang was just off the chains!

You see, it’s like this…the book is about Amanda Delmar, a rich socialite who is “slumming” it in a farm town when her richy rich Daddy cuts her off from the money and makes her get a job. She gets a job at a hair salon which doesn’t work out well and then lands on her feet again when Dan offers her a job as his Nanny with light housekeeping duties. It’s perfect for Amanda since she likes Piper and she’s determined to show her Dad that she’s not the loser he thinks her to be. Watching Danny try to keep his hands off of Amanda and watching Amanda face her demons head on and come out on top made this book just so awesome for me.

I loved how Erin McCarthy wrote Danny’s insecurities about his technique in the bedroom…she didn’t make him out to be this weenie boy who couldn’t perform in the bedroom, a complete greenie boy who had a complex, she wrote his problem as a real and total upfront issue he had, one that he was going to get over with Amanda Delmar. Their first time sleeping together was fun, sweet and so cute. I was already in love with Danny by then but it was still a delight to read about them coming together, about them overcoming the obstacle that was…each other.

I loved seeing Amanda’s character grow chapter by chapter from the spoiled rich girl to the loving country city girl who lived on a farm. The girl who proved Danny’s parents wrong and won them over completely because of the love she had for their son and for Piper…and I totally loved the way that Amanda was with Piper. She was such a good influence on the little girl and just exactly what Piper needed in her new life with a father who was such a stranger to her.

…and then Danny and Piper together. Wow, I loved how completely Danny gave himself over to his role in Piper’s life. I loved how he didn’t know what he was doing, he was scared and freaked out about having a new daughter who didn’t have such a good life before she came into his and to see him trying to do right by her was such a good thing to read…it was exactly what I needed to read right now and it just warmed my heart. I loved seeing Piper come out of her shell bit by bit until she really felt apart of Danny’s family and that chapter at the end when the step dad comes back and tries to take Piper away from Danny and how Amanda stood her ground and would not let him. How she showed Piper that she was apart of her family now and nobody messed with her without messing with Amanda, it was just so great that I was grinning and grinning. I loved that it was Amanda that saved Piper from Mark, I loved that Erin McCarthy showed just how far Amanda’s character had grown since the beginning of the book.

And what about Danny’s parents? LOVED THEM and Boston and Shelby? Yeah they were great too but what I loved most about this book was you saw each character go through something and by the end of the book, everyone had overcome something, achieved something and it was just fantastic.

This book was just so fun and great and just everything good that I am looking forward to reading more by Erin McCarthy, I can’t wait to pick up more books by her and devour them the way I did this book…great job EM! I’m so glad that I picked this book up because it had everything in it…laughs, love and a hero hot enough to melt my panties, it was great!

I totally recommend this book to those of you guys who are looking for something light and fun…this one certainly delivers a wonderfully heartwarming love story that makes one smile, sigh and want the goods just like Amanda.

It’s a winner, read it!

Hey, Holly, I was gonna say she took it from me when we got together, cause I brought it with me… *g*

I love Erin’s books. She has a great sense of humor. This was a great book; actually a little heavier than usual for her. You’ve gotta read her others!
