Booking Through Thursday

This week’s Booking Through Thursday question:

Buy a Friend a Book Week is October 1-7 (as well as the first weeks of January, April, and July). During this week, you’re encouraged to buy a friend a book for no good reason. Not for their birthday, not because it’s a holiday, not to cheer them up–just because it’s a book.
What book would you choose to give to a friend and why?

And, if you’re feeling generous enough–head on over to Amazon and actually send one on its way!

Izzy says:

I’d probably buy my sister in law The Wedding by Julie Garwood. I don’t think she’s ever read Julie Gardwood. She’s read Judith McNaught, Lorraine Heath and Madeline Hunter. I think she would enjoy The Wedding. As to why The Wedding, because it’s my favorite Julie Garwood.

Rowena Says:

Hmm, I think I would buy the Chesapeake Series by Nora Roberts for my friend, Lilo. She has enjoyed NR’s trilogies a lot lately and her reading enthusiasm has slowed quite a bit so I want to jumpstart her reading endeavors and keep her reading, and that would be my next series to give to her, I think she’d enjoy it a whole lot.

Holly Says:

I think I’d have to offer Touch of Fire by Linda Howard. To this day, it’s my favorite pimp. Whenever someone asks for a recommendation, that’s the one I tell them to check out. If I know the person likes Romance, or if they’re looking to try a Romance, it’s always HOF for me.

Casee Says:

I’d choose Virgin River by Robyn Carr. I’d send it to a good friend that is in a reading slump and doesn’t think Virgin River would get her out of it. I’d also send it to her to make her cry for doubting me.

What about you guys?

  1. I think I’d rec “Dreaming of You” or “Where Dreams Begin” by Lisa Kleypas. Or for something that’s still a romance but also suspense, I’d want to get them hooked on JR Robb’s “In Death” series.

  2. Hmmm, i got an extra copy of Caressed by Ice that I intend to give to a friend that I’ve just recently addicted to romance novels ;D

Tough one. I have three that I love to pimp out… England’s Perfect Hero by Suzanne Enoch (back when she really wrote great romance), Worth Any Price by Lisa Kleypas (Nick Gentry!), and any Over the Edge by Suz Brockmann (Stan’s book) (just like Holly would choose, right? LMAO)

  4. That’s a great idea. I love spreading book joy to other people, for no reason. Right now, I would buy New Moon and give that to my boss, who is currently reading Twilight. I guess she got tired of me gushing about Edward at work and not knowing the heck I was talking about. =)

    Lori,

Worth Any Price is going to be one of the first books I dig into after I finish this series that I’m reading now…hehe, thanks for the book sweetie!

Oh I totally skipped Stacy…sorry sweetie, I totally love Dreaming of You and I can think of someone else in the blogging world who world who would pimp that book as well…;) I’ve read a few of the JD Robb books and they’re not my cup of tea, I enjoyed them well enough but not enough to rush out and buy the other books! =)
