Readers captivated by Twilight and New Moon will eagerly devour Eclipse, the much anticipated third book in Stephenie Meyer's riveting vampire love saga.

As Seattle is ravaged by a string of mysterious killings and a malicious vampire continues her quest for revenge, Bella once again finds herself surrounded by danger. In the midst of it all, she is forced to choose between her love for Edward and her friendship with Jacob --- knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf. With her graduation quickly approaching, Bella has one more decision to make: life or death. But which is which?

Oh my god. This book pissed me the hell off. I even called Holly asking “WTF!”
If you want a real review, please see Holly and Mailyn. I’m going straight into my rant.

They are all stupid.

Bella- STUPID. Edward told her not to visit Jacob. He’s a young werewolf and dangerous. Since they are on the reservation, Edward can’t protect her if something happens or the treaty breaks. What does Bella do? She goes and visits Jacob.

She wants to spend eternity with Edward. Wants to be vampire really bad but does not want to get married to Edward. Why? She doesn’t want to be that girl who gets married right after high school. Please. You love him that much it shouldn’t matter what people think. She gags just thinking about engagement rings and planning her wedding.

She was in denial the entire book. Then she falls in love with Jacob. Even pictures a happily ever after with him.

Stupid.

Jacob- He soooo annoyed me throughout the book. I really liked him in Twilight and New Moon. Now he’s just a spoiled brat who is mad cause he can’t have his toy. Keeps insulting Edward in front of Bella. Forcefully kisses her. If it had been Edward who pulled that stunt, you bet Jacob would’ve been all over him.

That was another thing. He kept telling Bella Edward wasn’t human. WTF! You aren’t either! Hello werewolf!!!! Both of you are freaks!!!!!

Edward- He didn’t quite piss me off. But I just have to wonder, is Bella worth all the trouble? He was extremely patient. More than any other guy I know. Which Edward said he had years of building up patience but still……everyman has his breaking point.

Edwards just needs to dump Bella’s ass and be with a real woman. Maybe like… me?

I’m really disappointed in this book. At point, I just started skimming I was so mad. I really wished I stopped at Twilight. I had their HEA all pictured in my head. I honestly don’t know if I want to read the next book.

Grade: 2/5 cause I love Edward, otherwise: 1/5.

  1. ugh, I wonder if I still have my receipt… I read a hundred pages and had to put it down. I was going to try again but now I am not sure… So many bad reviews of this nature.

  2. Fantastic review and so right on! I’ve been so annoyed by this book I haven’t even been able to review it. What a disappointment after Twilight.

That was another thing. He kept telling Bella Edward wasn’t human. WTF! You aren’t either! Hello werewolf!!!! Both of you are freaks!!!!!

    LOL!!!!!

  4. WARNING: SPOILERS EVERYWHERE IN MY RANTING RESPONSE.

And let me preface this post by saying I am so dang impressed with Stephenie Meyer. She’s created quite an interesting world, and I love her blending of the natural/supernatural (my brother was born in Forks. She totally nailed that town). She’s created some very interesting characters and a world I wouldn’t mind spending LOTS of time in. I’m particularly fascinated by the werewolves, and I’m hoping her next story is from Jacob’s POV (him imprinting on someone who is NOT BELLA).

Having said that: the complete mystery to me is why Jacob and Edward both go nuts over Bella. To me, she’s not that likeable.

And I’m sorry, but I didn’t understand why she chose Edward at the end. HOLD IT! Before you start throwing things at me, let me explain: in the first book, Edward was a fully realized character. He was so fascinating–sexy, quirky, and occasionally just a dickhead smart ass (as any teenager, immortal or not, should be).

Then he was absent for most of “New Moon” (and oh, how we missed him).

And in this book Bella spends a lot of time thinking about becoming a vampire. Becoming a soulless murdering fiend. Losing contact with all of her loved ones. Having to eat penguins in Antarctica. Whatever. None of it sounds appealing, which was a VERY BRAVE THING for Meyer to do.

She contrasts this potential life to the life she’d have with Jacob. Social. Sunny. Two little kids. Happy. Laughing. Not having to break her parents’ heart. Again, BRAVE MEYER.

And then she chooses Edward. Not because he’s a totally interesting guy with an amazing amount of patience. Not because her soul is at peace when she’s with him. Not because he makes her the best possible version of herself, encouraging her to grow as an individual even as they grow as a couple. Not because their love is worth any fear she has to face to be with him.

No. Because she was really, really sad the last time he left and she just doesn’t want to go through it again.

Um. I guess I just wasn’t convinced that she made the right choice. Whereas with the cliffhanger at the end of Twilight, I was totally rooting for Edward’s Big Bite.

Okay. That’s much more than two cents, but I couldn’t resist. Meyer is a very brave woman, and a very talented writer, but I was a little bummed for Edward in this one. I felt like he didn’t get a fair deal, somehow.

umm.. i have only read the first and second ones..
but i must admit im a little afraid to read eclipse LOL!
but still..in a way i wish she would turn to a vampire cause it seems like they are really in love..
what doesnt make since to me ..was why Edward didn’t want to turn her into a vampire, but he still wanted to spend the rest of her life together…
ok honestly who wants to be kissing an old saggy lady..???
    but
i dont want to see her be with Jacob because the only reason she made herself think she was in love with him was because she was depressed and in a breakdown moment..
and soo she leaned on the first person that gave her the time of day.
Which Jacob is a reallly nice guy
but i dont think would be good boyfriend material for her cause..did u see what happened to Emily? yeah that would suck .
and he is reallllly big which is even more wierder..
but i guess i would go with a guy who was too hot than one who was to cold(like stone).
mkay im like beggin my parents to let me go get the book..

O…. M…. G….! I don’t care what ya’ll said cause this is the best series in the history of all books. WTF to all of you who don’t have a single piece or soft tissue called a brain in your shallow skulls. Meyer, keep on doin’ your thing and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. i think their just jealous of your amazing gift to pull your readers into the book and feel what you wanted them to feel throughout the book. you leve readers wanting more. please don’t end with just 6 books. the public NEEDS MORE.
