Booking Through Thursday- More Than Two

This week’s questions is:

One book at a time? Or more than one? If more, are they different types/genres? Or similar?

(We’re talking recreational reading, here—books for work or school don’t really count since they’re not optional.)

Izzy says:

One book at a time? Or more than one? If more, are they different types/genres? Or similar?(We’re talking recreational reading, here—books for work or school don’t really count since they’re not optional.) I normally read one book at a time. But if I’m reading a hardback book, then I’ll read two. I won’t lug a hardback book in my purse. So I’ll read the hardback book at home and my paperback at work.

Holly Says:

One book at a time? Or more than one? If more, are they different types/genres? Or similar?

I’ve always read really fast. Like…a 400 page book takes me 2-4 hours. So in the past, I’ve never read more than one book at a time..I didn’t need to. But lately, I seem to be reading slower and certain books aren’t holding my interest as much. Either that, or I start one and leave it a home, so I have to start another. Or I get a book an start it, but one I wanted more comes out so I start that one, too. Seeing a pattern here? Yep, I’m losing my mind.

Currently I’m reading 4 books. I’m liking them all, but I just can’t decide on one and stick with it. It’s pathetic.

Rowena’s Turn:

Me, I used to read just one book at a time and then immerse myself into the story and then move on but lately, I find myself reading more than one and two books at a time and dividing my attention between all of the books but I’m a multi tasking queen so I can dig this and keep up with all the storylines and all that junk, but I’m like Holly where I’ll start one book one day and then leave that book at work and then have to start another book that night at home, or I’ll start a book then the book I want to read comes out or I find the book that I was reading before and end up reading that book instead and then it’s just one big vicious cycle.

Like Holly again, it’s pathetic….but what can I do?

Read them all, silly….haha.

What about you guys? Do you guys read one book at a time or are you like us and can read more than one book and still enjoy the heck out of a book?

  1. I usually have 2 or 3 on the go at once. I work night shift two nights a week so on my down time at work I have to stay awake. So I need a book that really keeps my attention. It’s usually a mystery/detective type book with lots of suspense. I can read a romance when I’m trying to stay awake, but the characters have to have tons of chemistry. Otherwise I get bord, and nod off.

  2. My reading depends a lot on my moods….and then again, if I do read more than a book, I will limit to two to avoid any confusion, and I will also try to read different genres.

    Happy reading!

  3. I never used to read more than one, but now I do that from time to time…except if I’m reading a book I love, like a JR Ward, or a Brockmann, or a JD Robb. I have no difficulties reading those books.

  4. Like Holly, I read really fast so I gobble books. I read one at a time. If I don’t like a book I put it down and find something I will like. I get into books and have problems putting them down unless I’ve finished them.

  5. I’m definitely one at a time type of reader. Once I start a book I usually cannot put it down for more than a few minutes until I’ve finished it (unless it’s a re-read) so putting it down to start another book wouldn’t work for me.

Speaking of multi-tasking: What is the strangest or most difficult thing that you can do while reading? I read while I take a shower. Strange but true.

Oh, yeah, I read more than one at a time. I tend to have one print and one ebook on the go at the same time.

  7. Karen Scott

I rarely ever read one book at a time anymore.

On Friday, I started reading Lora Leigh’s Tanner Scheme, which I was enjoying, then my weekly Amazon delivery came, and with it Shannon Mckenna’s Edge of Midnight (totally a guilty pleasure) so I started reading that, but in and amongst that lot, I’m reading Shana Abe’s Dream Thief, which is taking me a lot longer to read than The Smoke Thief did.

Sometimes the reason is because I lose interest, other times, I pick up another book, because I just can’t wait to get started on it.
